Squealing after driving thru puddle?

I have a 2007 Ford Mustang V6 convertible. I drove it through some big puddles on the road today and afterwards I had a squealing from engine. Loose belt? Bad belt? Any ideas/suggestions?

Did the squealing go away or is it doing it all the time now?

Yes. It went away.

Yes. Squealing went away. It happened to be right before where I needed to go. So I turned engine off a minute after it started. I was inside for about ten minutes. When I came out and restarted engine the squealing was gone.

Just about any car can have the squealing sound when running through some deeper puddles. The key is that it goes away shortly after starting. If it continues for minutes then I'd say there could be a bigger problem somewhere.

I agree. If it kept squealing, I'd say worn or loose belt. Since it went away, it is probably nothiing to worry about.

Thank you

Okay. I won’t worry about it. If it happens again I’ll see how long it lasts. Thanks everyone!!

maybe already obvious from prior posts, just summarizing: the squealing is probably from a belt slipping because it is wet, and it should go away when it dries off, which should be pretty quick, usually only a few seconds
