Saddle Tank connecting tube

Hey yall! This will be my first post as I’ve been lurking for awhile while doing my own work for my two years of ownership.

i have an ‘05 Mustang and I just replaced the Fuel pump. It’s been a grind lol

I first tried to connect a salvage part and no dice so I disconnected that and bought a new one. I must have pulled on the Saddle tank connecting tube (the one connecting to the pump inside the tank) a bit too much while connecting the new pump because I noticed that I had a lot more give than before.

I ignored it and I sealed everything up with no leaking. Until I filled up at the station and it starts overflowing. Not out of the filler tube but out from under the middle of the car.

is it possible that I pulled the connecting tube too far out of the passenger side and the driver side is filling up and over flowing? Is there a way without dropping the tank to examine this? I’m able to get in about 6 or 7 gallons of gas before it starts to leak and there are no leaks when I shake the car or drive it afterwards.

Thanks for the help!
