Rear glass problem??

I noticed the factory tint inside my rear glass looks bubbled. It's not noticeable looking straight at the glass but only looking at it from an angle. It looks almost like there is bubble wrap under the glass. Does anyone else have this issue? I'm wanting to get my windows tinted but if there's an issue with my rear glass I want to get it replaced first.

I'd take the mustang back to the dealer and complain about the bubble.

I'm going to go by the local dealer tomorrow and look at a few other coupes to see if the issue is present. If it is not I'll see if they'll cover it under warranty.

My rear glass has it too. I talked to the guy who was tinting my windows and he had some explanation for it that I don't remember. But it is no longer visible after I had the tint applied (20%).

Ditto.

Mine had it, just had her tinted (20% as well), and you can no longer see it.

I looked at a few other coupes and almost all of them had it. If ford did replace it the replacement would probably have it as well. That's good news on the tint. Thanks

It is the way the factory tints the glass. It is not a defect. If you look at the side windows with polarized sunglasses you will see the same splotchy look like you are describing. As a matter of fact just about any car with factory tint has the same look through polarized glasses.

I have read that this effect has to do with tempered glass.

I had my 07 for about 6 weeks and one morning the rear glass was covered in dew. Turned on the rear defroster and headed to work. Got to work ok, went out for lunch break and the whole rear glass was cracked. The whole thing was spider webbed, not just cracked (was raining that afternoon too and luckily the window hadn't fallen through) had it towed to the dealership and they determined that the heating element in the glass never turned off and overheated the glass causing it to crack. You could actually see the burn marks in the glass. Long story short, Ford would not replace the glass under warranty and gave no good explanation as to why they would not.
