Power surge at 4000 rpm

I have a 06 Saleen S/C. Today when I hit 4000 rpm my ABA light comes on then the instrument cluster completely goes out, radio shuts off and my battery indicator maxes out. I hook a monitor up and the voltage goes from 14 volts to 19 volts, but no codes. Any ideas what it might be?

I had that exact same problem a while back. I didn't get much/any help here, but it was an easy fix. My alternator had died, and the new one I got was faulty as well. It would cause a voltage spike/warning lights/electronics shut off at 5K rpms. Replaced alternator and battery again, and all was fixed.

Well then I'm stumped as well. That sure sounds like the exact same problem I had. A new alternator (even though it was less than a month old) and a new battery fixed everything.

When you say you disconnected the alternator what do you mean? If you didn't take the big red wire off of it you didn't disconnect it. When you have a faulty alternator disconnecting the connector alone is not enough. The connector only controls the voltage regulator and if the voltage regulator is bad it will not stop the charge.

Disconnect the red lead on the alternator. Tape it up (so it doesn't touch anything. Then rev it. What happens?
