Update to my 2011 post:
Still haven't replaced the lumbar support, the insturment cluster, or the door panels. I really need the insturment cluster but it's looking like next year before I will have the money for that. $700-$800 is not in my budget right now and since I only drive it about once a week I think it'll be okay until then. I got my 02 Mustang to drive to work and to save the mileage on my 05. So far I've had the 02 for 11 months and have already put over 13k on it. And right now I've got tape holding up my door panels, so they've not ripped or stretched they just need to be reattached. I just haven't had time to do it with working 2 jobs and I went back to communty college for a year and am now looking at going back to school at the U of Memphis.

In my 05 I have replaced another battery, another complete set of tires, breaks all around, air filter, another fuel filter, a headlight bulb, & I've got a bulb for the inside passangers side break light but haven't changed it out yet.

Ugg it never ends.........but I love my car so I'm still keeping her.

Check those tie rod boots. $5 at autozone for a couple red urethane replacement boots is a lot cheaper than a pair of rods and a realignment. My 06 and the wifes 07 both rotted and crumbled apart, luckily i caught them before chunks fell out letting irt get in...changing the boots is easy, only hard part is popping the studs out, always takes a big hammer blow to the knuckle to pop them out...dont think of using a 'pickle fork' as that destroys as it removes....

So far only real issues is these cars will eat batteries if not driven regularly...not the cars fault, just nature of the beast due to small battery and big electronics. I started unhooking battery when stored, seemed to have halted the battery appetite... Batteries sulfate if not fully charged, charge it up, unhook it, no problems...unhook a low one, its still dead as a doornail in a week, and a deep discharge often ruins the battery first time. I got a desulfating charger, it bounced back a couple of them for another year, but often had to reset it twice a day for a week to lear the bad battery alarm, eventually all but one desulfated and started holding a charge again... Did have one break a post internally, guess i musta got a little overzealous in pulling/ reinstalling the connector

I think mine was about $80 or so at the dealership. I've seen them online for about $65, but then shipping, so $80 anyway.

Quesion: On another forum someone said that replaceing the stepper motors in the insturment panel will fix it. Anyone here tried that?

And has anyone tried the guauge repair services offered on ebay for like $50?

Yeah, that's all that's actually wrong when your gauges get all crazy. Do a search on here, and you'll find everything you need to know about it.

I replaced all of the stepper motors on my car and they worked for a short time and then all of the gauges quit working. the digital display still works and the lights work but none of the gauges will move.

I had the E-brake cable replace as part of a TSB since one of the few times we've had ice, I actually had the issue (frozen line and brakes wouldn't release) occur.

Replaced the battery 3 times now.

Otherwise, car is still running good. *knocks on wood*

81K miles currently.

77k: Seat padding has gone flat (I'm only 170lbs so its not being a fat @ss),

-clutch is DEFINITELY on its way out (original, factory installed --getting really heavy).

-The steering is getting heavier too, hope the power steering isn't going bad.

-lots of little rattles from the interior panels

I've got other things wrong but those are related to aftermarket parts.

Mine is going in next week to replace the pinion seal too at 53,000 miles and rear pads. For some reason the front pads still have plenty of meat on them. Still the original pads.

07 GT with 71k miles.

Alternator and battery

Both blend door motors for a/c (passenger side first, not too hard. Drivers side is a real *****!)

Drivers door sensor, and broke a clip during r/r so I had the lock lever rattling around for a couple days.

2 tail lamp bulbs

Gonna need a new clutch soon, it keeps shuddering occasionally.

A/c blower motor was squeaking last year, so I bought a new one, but the squeaking stopped and I haven't replaced it yet.

New brakes will be done this winter, the fronts have a wobble, not bad though.

And my leather on the drivers seat is starting to come apart. Been looking for a new cover (or newtakeoff), but I have the parchment interior and can't find a replacement anywhere.

Still love the car and will keep it forever.
