Same here. My battery finally went last month, but otherwise the car's been solid. Something weird happend yesterday though. I noticed the steering was heavy, but not to the point where you'd suspect a bad power steering pump, and then as I was driving down the highway, I'd put my foot on the clutch and the RPMs would drop until the car stalled. Foot off the clutch at speed and the engine comes back to life and has power. Got real nervous about it, so when I stopped (car decided to keep running) I popped the hood and THANK GOD it was just the PCV hose going to the intake got disconnected. Hooked it back up and it ran like a top again

Had to replace the lumbar support module in my drivers seat. I don't use it much but when it breaks loose and falls out and you sink into the back seat you kinda need it fixed.

Battery, and brake pads between 55 and 60k. Brake rotors, sway bar, spark plugs(reg. maint.) and right inner tie rod recently at 70k. Car is driving like new.

20,000 mile 08 Bullitt alternator had a bad bearing, it got real noisy and I could no longer ignore it, 500 miles later the pulley came off the new Bosch alternator on the highway, 2000 miles on this 3rd alternator, so far so good
no bumper to bumper warranty as the car has a march 08 build date

Only thing I have had to replace out of warranty that wasn't regular maint stuff is the A/C. Pretty much the whole system; compressor, lines, condensor, filter.

Nothing under warranty. My car has never even seen the dealership again. Except I did get an inspection there once.

Otherwise I haven't had anything I had to replace. But I've replaced a lot of things unnecessarily.

Edit: replaced the trunk light bulb
Double Edit: battery. I walked it in. They tried to give me crap about needing the car and i said give me th battery or I'll buy a Camaro next time. In really didn't mean that though. **** those cars are fugly!

  1. Multiple batteries. I'm on #5 now, but it seems to be doing much better than its predecessors.
  2. Driver door insert peeled, friend at an upholstery shop fixed it quick and easy.
  3. Tires, one set.
  4. Inner tie rods.
  5. I had some of the 100k work done at 85k, like replacing the spark plugs, amongst other things. Huge improvement in daily drivability.

Lesse, nearly 81 k on Awesome, and these are non-warranty items:

Brakes, plus one rear rotor... Never made noise, only when I started seein' the grooves did I know that one was wore. Dangit.

3 batteries (2 motorcrap, and then I gave up. Advance Gold, or whatever that is called, seems to be good stuff so far.)

2 alternators (the rebuilt one gave up on charging, but it's LLW, and I'll be takin' advantage of that from here out out. I just hope not a lot of advantages... )

2 sets of tires (the afore mentioned slashed, and then those completely wore out for the current Cooper Zeon RS3-As at 77.5K)

Door inserts were reglued. Holding up still since. Very happy about that. Well, not happy the inserts needed regluing, happy they're holding up after I did it.

I've YET to do the plugs, but that's soon. I'm scared, and awaiting my fixing (the long awaited fixing) of my motorcycle so I have other wheels in case something bad happens during the plug attempt.

Oh yeah, and the rear axle bearings, right after the Coopers were put on. The next day. I was thinking the wore out Pirellis were making the noise, but nope! Heh. Specifically, the right one ate itself, but thankfully nothing else, all was good. Was a bear to get it out though. I had them replace both as a matter of course, so they're both new.

Still and all, overall? Heck ya, she's been living up to her name. Thanks, baby.

I've had to replace the pinion seal on the rear axle. I blame the installer who put my 4.10's in though.

The power lumbar in my seat no longer works...I heard it click one day so I assume some plastic linkage broke.

Still on my original battery with 37k and 5.5 years...not sure why others have such problems! I store the car in the winter and just disconnect the battery and leave it in the car.

almost 6 yr old and about to turn 65k. Replaced the battery less than a yr ago. I did kill it a few times during its life.

Awesome thread.

I have 90k KM (around 55k miles) and the only thing I have replaced out of warranty was the battery just a few months ago. Still on original brakes but they are being done this summer.

I just had to replace my battery (33k miles). Has anybody ever had issues with needing to replace their battery sooner than a normal battery life?

Yes. It's a common issue with no known real fix. I personally have more issues with alternators, but many people have had a battery die overnight for no reason.

She's a 2008 with 31,000 on the clock now, built & delivered in Oct 07 and the only thing I had to replace is the battery back in March 2012. Other then that and basic maintenance, she's been perfect.

Hmm, I've hand a handful of things but luckly still under warranty...

3 Headlight switches (failed to illuminate)
Lumber support once (now twice, stopped working tonight)
Hood bubbling issue (ford took care of it under warranty, starting showing again in 10 months, denied a repaint after 36K - looking @ steeda cowl)
Steering wheel emblem (due to pitting)

Out of pocket:
Windshield (horray getting an apt by a golf course)
Tires (when I upgraded my wheels)
Battery (replaced with optima yellow top)
Also, some wear and tear items, brakes pads, rotors, bulbs, wiper blades...

Other than that, drivetrain is soild and the paint still shines...
