Opinions Please
I have an 06 Gt convertible 22,000 miles. Ford sevice had my car for a week to install the new cables to eliminate right rear squeak. After I picked up the car the squeak was still there. Here is where I need some opinions. I brought the car back and saw the mechanic who worked on the car and while he was looking at things the service manager came out. He felt a little silicone would solve the problem. As they were working on the top they asked me to raise and lower the top. While doing this I noticed light comming through the top. After loking closer I noticed a piece of the metal frame rubbing on the top which in turn wore it down. Now I have a very small hole, this is also happening on the passenger side. Do you think this warrents a repair to the existing top or replacement?

I think they should replace it. Mazda had a problem with the tops for the first bunch of 1999 Miatas that caused one of the bows to wear a hole in the top. Mazda replaced it under the warranty. They did it twice for me, once for each Miata I owned.

Depending on how big the hole is and if there is a convertible top repair shop in your city. They may want the repair shop to look at it first before replacing the top. But try to insist on them replacing the top.
It should be covered by the 3/36 factory warranty since you have under 36,000. but I don't know what your purchase date is. Being an 06 it should well under the 3 yrs.
