Noise when turning in parking lots, etc

Every time I turn in a parking lot or similar places my car makes a very loud squeaking noise. This doesn't happen with I'm driving on the road or anything, just when I maneuver through parking lots. Really embarrassing. I thought it was my tires, that maybe they were low, but I checked them and they have 45 psi, at 50 max so that's not it....any ideas? Also it isn't the squeaky belt, as I've had it before and it's not like that. More like something bending...or stretching.

Sqealing when the steering wheel is all the way to the lock? If so it's normal unless its really loud.

Could be the tires. Some make more noise than others.

Is it on blacktop only or all surfaces?

could be that the tire is rubbing the wheel well liner at extreme turn angles

It's on all surfaces...also its not only on full turns, even small ones. Seems to be more prominent when turning left....but no noise (that I can hear) when changing lanes, etc.

Good point. It could be the tires rubbing on the fender wells.

Do you still have your stock rims/tires? If so, put 'em on and see if it still makes the racket.

Well I'll have to look...but I have 18x9 in the front, and 18x9.5 in the rear...ill check it out if I find my stock rims.

slow speed turns load the power steering pump. If the belt is worn or a little loose it can slip and then squeal. Provided of course your mustang has conventional PS.

Hi ThatMattGuy,

I recommend you bring your vehicle in to your Ford dealer for diagnosis. Your Service Manager is in the best position to look into this for you. He can look into any warranty, Recalls, or Customer Satisfaction Programs that may apply to your vehicle. If you need further assistance, do not hesitate to PM me.

Look for rub marks on the fender liners. If it's rubbing there will be marks.

I'm no PS expert but the PS pump has a pressure relief when the wheel is turned all of the way, I think. The PS pump puts out a lot of pressure. Around 1500 PSI and it has to go somewhere or the pump would not survive.

Well I checked the PS, and it has a leak in the hose, about 1 eye drop of a leak. The ridges that are inside the hose seem to be messed up. Could this cause it?

Also, the leak isn't enough to actually show on the ground...

I couldn't really tell...it was kind of just slippery on the hose, and I could see where a LITTLE was getting out. It was dark when I wiped it off, but that could have been just grease or something mixed with it..
