manual transmission fluid (whine issue)

Hi,
Is it possible to eliminate or reduce manual transmission whine by changing fluid? I heard that engine oil Castrol 10W/60 can fix the problem. What do you think about it? Maybe you know different solution?
Thx,

I've never looked to see what fluid is in the trans. That being said I do know if you change the viscosity it may affect the working of the syncro's, especially in cold winter weather. It may make it harder to shift gears as the syncro's have to displace the thicker fluid when they're trying to speed up/slow down shaft speeds. I would imagine also if the fluid is too thin it would cause premature wear on the trans parts in extreme heat conditions.
I removed the console in my car and installed sound mat, not dynamat, around the shifter area and where ever I saw bare metal showing. It reduced quite a bit of trans noise and heat from the shifter area.
