Loud Backfire!!!

Today I tried to get rubber when shifting into 2nd and instead of a tire squeel I got a very loud backfire. I had the RPM's up high but not near the red line and as soon as I shifted into 2nd is when it backfired. What could have caused this to happen? Should I be concerened as it is a stock '07 GT/CS?

Thanks

Strange, I've never had mine backfire like that with almost 60K on the clock.

The temperature probably had a major influence there. I wouldnt be wrried about anything, especially since you are still under warranty.

I wouldn't worry about it. It was just from the sudden drop in RPM from the shift. If it happens a lot you can always have the dealer check your air/fuel.

I bought cheap gas at BJ's and I believe that may have been part of the issue. With a 1/2 tank I filled the rest with Exxon 93 Octane and the problem is not there and my MPG's went from 13 to 21.

Thanks for the input

Did it happen after you let the clutch out in second ? Because if it was that, maybe your traction control kicked in and did something to the spark sequence because of the quick lack of traction . Try it again without the traction control being on .

Mine will back fire on wet roads when the traction control kicks in while accelerating hard.
