Inspect your pwr steer pump mounting bolts ASAP !!
Was installing some mods on the car and found the power steering pump mounting bolts loose. Total of 4 holding it on I think.
One was all the way out hitting the frame
one was loose
one is GONE
one was holding the dang thing on, if it went BOOM.
Car has only 1700 miles on it.

Thanks for the tip-
I've had my Mustang just shy of two years and 17,600 miles. The only problems I've had were the ones covered by the TSB's (CD Player skipping, popping noise in front end) and having to replace the battery about 1500 miles ago.
I'm taking my car in for service sometime next week so I'll mention the problem you're having to my service writer to check on my car.

Boy that may be true Metroplex, but I sure hope you're wrong. These Mustangs have been (I believe) relatively trouble free as new platforms go.
I've always told people around my town that if Ford and the other Big Two built their cars as well as our Mustangs, there'd be no Japanese cars in this country.

I think my Crown Vic just needed more power and better headlamps out of the factory
Did you visit web sights devoted to your Crown Vic? People always report problems so if you are on a web sight you are going to hear about it but, thousands of trouble free cars don't get mentioned.
I've found things that I have noticed on my car on these message boards that I would not have noticed otherwise. Like the TSB 06-9-9, I always thought it was just me having a clumsy moment with the clutch and throttle because it only hesitated when I got off the interstate and at the top of the ramp. I probably would have never even known it was a problem if I didn't see it on this board. The internet is allowing us to all find EVERY LITTLE problem in these cars, whereas we might have never noticed them otherwise. Not that loose power steering bolts are a minor problem, but you get the idea. Just my $.02
Whatever happened to people who want to do their job correctly simply because they have pride in themselves? Pride in their work? I think there are still plenty around and if the are not UAW or if they do not work for Ford or Visteon, that's too bad.
I think that happened when everything became 3 times more expensive and wages never increased.
UAW and Big 3 benefits are significantly better than other sectors of the industry. I heard from several Tier 1 engineers and Ford/GM engineers that they pay almost $0 for health benefits because they get an allowance (not part of their wages!) to buy whatever insurance they want. Where I work, I spend almost $2000 per year for dental, vision, health, and life insurance out of pocket.
Somewhere a news article I read a few months back stated that Ford/GM pay somewhere around $70-100 per employee per hour after all health benefits, overtime, and regular wages are calculated in. No wonder they can't make a profit!!
I heard line workers often get paid more than the engineers, or the line workers are mad they aren't paid as much as the engineers/white collared workers. Someone that worked at Romeo engine plant told me they experimented with robots for assembling the connecting rods and other rotating assemblies in the mod motors. The initial investment was "too high" at the time, but quality improved significantly! I suspect that within 5-10 years, outsourcing will be even bigger... either to foreign workers or to our new robotic overlords.
It is exactly this type of thinking that has gotten the US auto industry in the situation that it is in today.

What the domestic automakers need is new management at that level - someone who "can find new ways to motivate" the plant workers should their "lack of faith" be found to be "disturbing".
D. or C. Vader sound perfect for the job!

Interesting, isn't it, that the Fusion - which is made in Mexico sans the UAW - had the highest initial quality and customer satisfaction rating of any Ford EVER made. I predict that if Ford and GM want to survive, sooner or later they're going to have to either ditch the UAW or start making ALL their cars outside the USA.
Unions are the parasites of our Western society nowadays. North American corporations should look after their own employees, much as Japanese corporations do - hence there would be no need for unions anymore. The one place where unions may make sense is in China, where workers get 49 cents an hour, not $30 an hour.
