Here's a horror story for you!!
Here's a horror story for you!!
I took my 05 Mustang in for some warranty service back in May to the dealership I bought it from. I talk with the service writer and he says there's some problem and disappears for like a half hour, comes back and tells me he cant service my car there's a block on my title. Tells me my car title comes up as a "re manufactured " title. Asks me where I bought it, like DUH, I bought it here, did you wreck it or total it, another DUH , its only 2 years old , HELL no I never wrecked it. So he tells me go talk to a tag agency.
I talk to my local tag agent and she looks on her computer and tells me that GreenWay Ford, where I bought my car from, in January 05, when they went to issue my new car title, %#@ked up and made it a "manufactured" tile. I call the lady in the tag and title department at Greenway Ford tell her this and she cant believe it, that's impossible she says, cant happen, then I hear , "wait a minute.............Oh I guess you can " So bottom line some lady data entry type hits the wrong button and my new car is now a re manufactured one!!!!!
So like two months later , many long conversations between my credit union and dealership , I finally have my car title straightened out and can now go get it serviced. You just never know when some one will screw up on a computer, but when they do, it takes months to get it right!!!

man...I hope if it comes time to sell/trade it that wont become an issue...reissued title could flag the car as 'hiding something' possibly, and just wonder how well the state 'fixed' the title...dont know if they can 'correct' a legal document even if in their own error...if that title has any 'history' attached to it, you might have some kind of 'diminished value' claim valid- your insurance co could talk to the dealer about that one...hope they somehow fully corrected the original title, but again, dont really think documents of that type can 'just be corrected'. with all the Katrina 'floaters' out there, any title issue might hurt you down the road- hope they fixed everything 'right' with the documentation...I'm really suprised the bank didnt flag it when they recieved the title? guess dealer might not be only one that didnt pay attention.
That is bizarre. I'm glad they straightened it out. I have a duplicate title on my current car that I paid cash for. It was originally sent off to a lienholder, but it was paid for. Apparently, a distgruntled title clerk lost the paperwork on my car be before it was resubmitted again. I heard she no longer works for the dealership.
Scarry to say the least!!!!

I don't know what it is with some people and computers. I work on them all day long and I never had a problem. Either way glad it got sorted out that would have been a real mess down the line.
