chemical smell after driving

I've got my 05 GT at Ford service right now and they are trying to diagnose this problem. After driving the car and pulling it into my garage after about an hour I notice a "chemical smell" in the garage. It doesn't smell like gas and looking under the car I see no leaks. I see no leaks under the hood either. Never had this problem before and the car is well cared for and not a daily driver with only about 22,000 miles on it. Any ideas? Ford service so far has not found any cause of this.

Dealer found nothing. No leaks anywhere. Test drove it and then checked it out further no problems at all. Inspected fuel system, exhaust, brakes, and anything that would cause a strange odor. No reason for the chemical smell. So I guess I'll give my car a new nickname......."Stinky". There is no smell in the cabin when driving it only in the garage after parking it. Oh well......

I ran over a plastic shopping bag once and it stuck to my cats and burned and smelled awful.

Ditto, had to jack up the car to scrape it off. Stunk something terrible.

Scarpi, did the dealer put your car up on the lift when they did their diagnosis ? If not, have them put it up and check the underside for roadkill that may have gotten stuck in the lower engine bay compartment and exhaust manifold area's.. Also look into replacing your cabin air filter and check the air ducts to make certain they're not clogged up with debris..

Check the differential vent for if it's the same smell. https://latemodel.cachefly.net/downl...sb12-05-08.pdf
