Cabin air filter

Cabin air filter
I'm very pleased with myself- I'm a pretty basic level mechanic, and I managed to replace the cabin air filter myself today- it took 5 min,! I could not believe how easy this was. I suspect my car's filter had never been changed (40k miles) it was unbelievably gross. I found a really good guide with great pics- link below.

I just changed mine too, my interior started to smell like something died in it. Mines a 07 with 15K miles on it, sits in the garage most of the time. I couldn't believe how bad the cabin filter was, black with mold. Its not very protected from elements, everyone should change them if you haven't already if you've owned the car awhile.

did you clean out the debris in the drains? mine was packed with bits of leaves and some pine needles- luckily I cleaned it out before it backed up into the car, read of soooo many tales of wet floors from these drains clogging...I had my hood off when I cleaned it out- can see it would be a tight squeeze getting to the drains with the hood on...
