A/C not working

I noticed today that my A/C is not working. Its blowing air but not cold. Anybody has any idea what this could be and what I can cheak before taking the car to the dealership? (prefer not to do it). Thanks!

If you live as far north as I do (or more) the A/C may not come on until it gets warmer out.

I know this is going to sound weird but try the coolant level. when the car gets too cold the heat doesnt come out hot and the ac usually wont blow any air until the engine is warmer. otherwise take it in.

It was 80 degrees outside yesterday and I drove the car about 10 miles but cold air never came out.

Could be low on freon if thats the case you have a leak ,let Ford fix it under your warentee? could also be a cycle switch or the a/c clutch relay both should be warentee? Sometimes the the clutch will not ingage if it been a long time since it's been used . hope this helps I could get more into it bit need to know your skills ?

Do the 05+ have freone anymore, I thought they went with ammonium nitrate. Anyway back on track you might want to try the dealership, it might be something with the blower unit you said 80 degrees you might want to chek the heat, they tend to have the same blower unit

The heat is OK, the AC button light comes up but blows hot or regular air, no cold at all.

you can hear the AC clutch engaging and disengaging.. and it usually causes your RPM to fluctuate a little bit
you can even log that with any decent OBD tool, an SCT or a Predator.
i think you're out of freone

any way to check the freon? I really don't want to take the car to dealership unless absolutely necessary.

not unless you have an appropriate pressure tester.
i'm sure you can take it just about anywhere and have them check your refrigerant level

Turn on the a/c with the car running look at the front of the compressor if it's moving then the unit is on.If not the clutch is not on. A ouick try is a freon kit from autozone follow the instution as you put the freon in the clutch should ingage if the system low. I used freon because its universal for the a/c coolant.tried not to confuse anyone? If your not sure and you have a freind who a tech or you live in the Seminole ,FL area ask him to help .remember a/c is a closed system so if it low it has a leak!!!If you live in the seminole area p/m me and I will help you.

I'm taking mine in to the dealer tomorrow to find out why the A/C is not putting out cold air. All I am getting is warm air. I'll let you know what they find.

I'm guessing freone too at this point. Strange that this is happening, since everyhting seems to be working perfectly fine, as long as air is coming out. Any puddles under the car? Maybe your dealership didn't fill it upon arrival because thats a dealership fill, not a factory deal

As far as I know they both use tetrafluorothane R134 (known as R134)
It works pretty much like Freon.
Ammonium nitrate is what Timothy McVie used to blow up the building in Oklahoma.
