brand new 07 GT - problems

I've put only 300 miles on it and already i have problems. last night i started hearing this clanking when im going in 1st or 2nd gear, sometimes when shifting, sometimes not, sometimes going on bumps...just totally random. i dont know what could cause clanking all of a sudden.

also, i have that clutch pack noise in the rear diff that had TSBs out on the 05 and 06s. now i just put on 20 inch rims (razors)...would they be in any way related to this noise? i dont want my dealer to screw me over by making me pay for it. all you guys with aftermarket rims, would it really cause the clutch pack thing? im not even sure what the problem is...just know that it existed on mustangs....

what would my defense be if they wanted to blame it on the wheels?

thanks for any input guys.

I dont think they will blame your wheels. They should not cause you to hear clonking in 1st or second. The rear end noise may be nothing imo.

Why would this not be ironed out at the factory by now...? This is '07!

is it random at all speeds? I know that the clutch and tranny are pretty hard to get the hang of at really low speed.. a very slight tap on the gas with lurch the car forward, and you'll bounce back and forth for a second... it's like the car doesn't wanna go slow at all.
Does the clunk sound like it's coming from anything in particular? from the rear, the front, any of the corners?

You sure you are not hearing the noise from driveline lash? Does it sound like a faint clunk or is it louder?

Yes....... My dash board does rattle. Why do you think it's rattling? I have an 07 with about 1700 miles. I was thinking about taking it to FORD. That rattling noise is annoying.

Cheap, hard plastics tends to be more prone to rattling.

I think it rattles because ford didn't fix the problem in 05 or 06j/k
there are a few threads about it on here some where. I will be taking mine in soon. Mine rattles on both sides of the dash. I would think if ford used another screw or two on the dash all would be good. It is worse when its colder out side. Down right annoying. Its sad but I did expect this sort of thing from ford before I bought the car. My Acura never had one rattle or problem at all.

What about all these spectacular high quality soft touch plastics that rattle?

Perhaps these threads on other forums on how they fixed these "high quality" import dashes from rattling will give people ideas and help some "lowly inferior Ford" owners . You are not alone

If the rattle is located near the A-pillar, some foam material needs to be placed there to damp the noise. It is metal to plastic contact that is causing this, according to what this post shows.

I've pressed down in that area and the symptoms and action of the pillar and dash pad area seem to match what is described in the above.

Amen man! Geez, I tell you. There really is nothing worse than an ex-import owner. Bla bla bla.... How about "geez, the Mustang turns 90x more heads than my Civic used to" or better yet "I couldn't out accellerate a turtle with my Acura but this car..WHEW!!".

Thanks for keeping the playing field even man. Even the $60,000 Lexus has an occasional rattle.

I would like to change my post a little if I may... My other car a 2000 gt convertable never had one proplem... Still has the factory battery in it.
I have owned many cars only one import. Many many fords.
The problem with many manufactors is a lot of times when they hear of a rattle problem from the consumer they don't fix it for the following years production.
I think in the third year of production we should not hear of any one having a dash board rattle. I know the title of this thread is a few problems with my 07 .... not lets compare my 07 to other cars you have had or what I love about my new mustang.. Sorry for going off topic
Had the title been What I love about my new mustang ...
I would have said I love the fact that it will beat most imports in the 30k price range.
