Bought used 2005 found it has an ESP warranty

Hi!

I had a question about my Mustang. I bought it used a week ago from a Ford dealer. I had my local dealer (not the one I bought it from) do an Oasis search, and found it has an ESP til 2011. Can I use this ESP? Do I need to register it or something? Did the selling dealer miss a chance to make a few more bucks, or did I get a $1000 dolllar warranty for free?

The ESP warranty should be transferrable, in other words you probably have an extended warranty until 2011. You should call ESP and find out. Try this link FordESP.ca - Discounted genuine Ford extended warranties available online.

I talked to Ford ESP directly and found it came with the car, and is in effect no matter who owns it. Only problem is it is powertrain only. I am heading to the original dealer today to see about an upgrade to the premium care ESP.

Congrats on the great find. As long as the dealer transferred the warranty to you, your in good shape (there is a $50 transfer fee to do this, and most dealers just pay it themselves). As for the upgrade. You can only do it when the car (and plan) is still in the orginial Bumper To Bumper timeframe or 36,000 miles whichever comes first. I have a 7 year/36,000 mile Premium Care on my car, but the mileage is going faster than I thought (having too much fun taking it to shows and driving it ), so I will be upgrading the mileage to 48,000 next summer. Only thing you pay is the difference between what you have and what you want to purchase. Good luck.

most of the time if you buy a used ford from a ford dealer you get the certified used warranty which is 6yr /75k powertrain.

She only has 30,000 miles so I'm in luck! I need to get the motor looked at and I will talk to the dealer about the upgrade while I am there.

I am sure there is nothing wrong, but this motor has alot of new sounds I have never heard in a V8. I am used to 60's vintage big blocks. I figure let them look at it under warranty and be sure it's OK.
