Beware. Your car may help someone get "lawyered" up
yeah, I've recently figured that out too, but the climbers recently lost in the mountains for days without being able to be triangulatred gives me hope that I am not immediiately readily identifiable based upon my cell phone at this moment.
I haven't seen any information about this subject. What I'm most interested in are the system parts and how it works, rather than the ethical questions.
Where is the black box located? Is there a Ford part #? Is it the same module as the ECU? Does the box have to be removed for the data to be read? If not, how could I access the data if I was curious enough to do so? Can I use the OBDII connector?

Kinda answered it yourself with the first posting, what with the "special equipment (perhaps software as well) and direct connection" needed to access the information. If it is indeed part of the ECU, maybe the manufacturers of aftermarket tuning devices could chime in on this one...
I think that this may infrindge on my privacy rights in some aspects, although I can see some good but it's my car & I should have the right what can or cannot be used against myseld the owner. I think I may want this removed ?
