battery length and wiring harness

Guys,
Went to put an upgraded battery in my 07GT due to alarm mods and much to my surprise the wiring harness length between terminals was only set to fit the stock 96R battery. What have you folks done to make it accept longer battery type batterys? Only thing I could see doing is cutting up the existing cable at the end of the black casing but didn't think you had to do this. No other car I ever had had this problem. Seems Ford is hell bent on not allowing a different battery. Wanted to upgrade to 40R battery and had to take it back. Had parts guy check it out as I though 1000 W systems had the 40R battery. He could not find a different part number for harness. Only one different is for Shelby.

it is the same on all of the mustangs even the GT500 ford just likes making different part numbers for the GT500 and the normal stangs. I wonder why you are having problems, my friend has an optima yellow top for his aftermarket stereo system and he did not have any problems, and i have the Shaker 1000 and my battery is the same as one of my club members that has the non-shaker stereo.

I don't know either. Only way I could get the cables to fit the width of the battery is if I cut all the tape and black casing. I will tyr to upload picture to explain better.

Go with the optima yellow top, wont give you any problems. dont go cutting things
Or if you want, theres companies that have a relocation kit, to relocate the battery to the trunk so if you really want that 40R battery you can relocate it to the trunk and have no issues.
