I went out to my car yesterday and tried to start it, and it wouldn't crank. So I set the jumper cables up, started the car, ran it for about 5 minutes sitting still, and then drove it to get gass which is a 15 minute trip to the station. After pumping gas, I tried to start the car, and it wouldn't crank.

There are no warning lights on the dash, or codes being thrown. The car has only 4000 miles on it, so I really don't think its the battery.

I did however put on charge motion plates and an o/r h-pipe a few weeks ago. Is it possible that i've loosened a connection between the alternator and the battery that would cause the battery not to charge and the car still recieve power from the alternator? If so, where would that connection be located?

 

Bad battery. If the alternator was not charging, the car wouldn't run. The car needs lots of power to stay running properly, and a dead battery won't provide that without the alternator. The car will run fine with a dead battery, it just won't start without help.

 

I agree, there are many threads about this very topic. Battery drain due to Shaker and so forth.
