2009 Mustang GT Premium Untunable - BCM?
2009 Mustang GT Premium Untunable - BCM?
I have a 2009 Mustang GT Premium manual. I am getting a tune from Lito. I recently replaced the BCM after it got hosed leaving the car wash. The original part number is 9R3T-14B476-BA and I replaced it with 8R3T-14B476-AD from a 2008 automatic car at a scrapyard. It was plug and play with zero noticeable issues whatsoever. The car is cammed so it really needs a tune. After Lito sent me the base tune, the car gets bricked after each flash regardless of what strategy we use. The SCT X4 gives 110D5 code, "Failure to write data to vehicle. Married status check failed." After this, I cannot revert to stock, the device thinks its married to a different car. I used a different X4 from my truck and had the same issue.
I then went into Forscan and checked for CAN codes and reprogrammed the BCM back to my vin's data. There were extra blocks of code (I assume for the auto transmission) that werent rewritten. I had a few CAN codes for ABS and IC. After clearing them and driving around they didnt come back (were they thrown during the botched tune attempt?). I performed self tests on each module. No modules threw a code except for BCM. They were B2572 (brake shift interlock), B2479 (parking brake switch short to ground), and B2519 (high mount stop lamp). Obviously the car doesnt have an automatic transmission so those codes are suspect.
With all this in mind, is the BCM that currently in the car causing the car to reject a tune? Unfortunately I threw away the original BCM like an idiot. I cannot get a clear answer and I would so greatly appreciate help before I start playing parts roulette. Sorry for the long post, I wanted to give as much info as I could. Thank you in advance!

Welcome,
Check Out This Forscan Related Info & See if it Gives You any Idea's!

Also Here is My Thought If You Can't Get That Bcm To Play Nice I Would Get a Vin verified Same Number BCM For a Stick. Also I Would Come From the Standpoint of getting it Running Correctly all Stock And Driving a Couple of Days Until You Have Completed a Drive Cycle Before Trying a Tune. Also I Think I Would Check Every Module for AS-Built Status.

Unfortunately, your SCT X4 was married to your previous BCM... As stated above, unless your able to locate a VIN verified/same number BCM for a manual, you may be required to ship your SCT X4 to SCT in order to be unlocked...
That being said, I would reach out to SCT support and seek out their recommendation options...

First, Welcome to the Forum
yeah I was wondering if that ^ was the issue; I was not clear if it was an old tuner device that had been used on previous BCM or if it was a new fresh one
SCT might be able to help you with that like he ^ said .... and don't take my word for it, but I think I might have read that if you delete the factory tune from the device, that effectively un-marries it .... but then you would be left without the factory tune from your old BCM ...... which also makes me wonder how Lito will do a new tune, with no factory tune to start from

I would still recommend to the OP that his best option is to contact SCT technical support... They will be able to confirm if deleting the factory tune unmarries the device or if the device must be unlocked directly by SCT
