WTB old/crappy speedometer cable

Looking for an old C4 speedometer cable, or partial cable...actually, what I need is the transmission end (with the gear on it) essentially to plug the hole on the trans. Any cable on the end will be cut off.

Any one have an old speedo cable they'd like to get rid of?

Heh, yep, really just need a plug in there. If I cant find an old cable end, I guess I'll look at other options.

Can't you just make a blockoff plate out of an old VCR and RTV it into place?

"Im here to chew gum and recycle old VCRs, and I'm all out of VCRs"

I'm disappointed but not surprised that you would immediately look to a jimcrack, lo-tech, trailer-park idea whilst I am trying to fix this the right way.

You're absolutely right, it is a low-tech, trashy solution. Perhaps a DVD player would work better.

A metal freeze plug the appropriate diameter would probably work well. Clean both surfaces well with a little sparay brake clean and use some 3-M super weatherstrip adhesive during installation !
