C code setup

I got a question for all of you
here the engine setup
289 C code 66
4bbl holley carb
.040 over
headers
and 2.5" pipes all the way out
whats would yall think the estimated HP is im think around 206-212rwhp
if anyone has a dyno sheet with a similar setup that would be appreciated.

Horsepower was measured quite differently back in 66. A stock C code was rated at 200hp, but in today's measurements, would be about 140hp at the rear wheels. The modifications will add 20-30 hp, I would guess. My guess is 170rwhp if everything is tuned properly.

That's prolly a little high. I know in 1965-66 the C code was rated at 200hp.

Commonly thought that an auto trans equipped car may lose 20% due to frictional losses - 160 hp at rear wheels. I don't think the Holley and headers would make up that much.

yea, reviewed horsepower a bit more. 20% loss when you go to SAE net horsepower in 1972, so the 200 advertised horsepower turns into 160hp (at the flywheel). Another 18-20% drivetrain loss to get to the wheels puts it at 128rwhp. Then you add the mods.

For $50, you can get your own dyno sheet.

I had a 3/4 racing cam once.....I think they called it that because I raced that car about 3/4 of the time.

His car also appears to have a high rise aluminum intake and has a manual trans which will also make a difference in rear wheel hp.
