WTB: Carb
Well the carb is shot. I need a newer one. I was going to get one from autozone, but they have to special order it. I need a 1v carb that will fit a 1967 mustang 200 I6. Post it up if you have one.
I have a Holley List 7448 350CFM manual choke 2V carb. Has been sitting a few years (wrapped). Still looks almost new - plating, etc. I can't guarantee it will work without a kit, but it might. $35 and it's yours.
BA, before you go that route here are a few things to consider. One air speed or velocity, the one barrel will give you better air speed (= torque)at part throttle than the two barrel most of the time..BTW you spend 90% of your time at just over 1/8 to 1/4 throttle. Unless your a squirrel when you drive then all bets are off. That said why would you give up some low end torque when you dont have too?
Second, I think (double check me) a 200 six at 90% to 95% VE (Volumetric Effiency SP?) would need 350 cfm around 6000 rpms. I really doubt you spend any time about 4500 rpms? I could be wrong??? That said you might only need 275 to 300 cfm tops. Third..linkage, will the same linkage work, I doubt it. Kick down linkage? get ready for some fab work and then you wont have as clean an engine compartment. As we all know, no one fabs brackets better than the factory, (well maybe Chip Foose and some others) 1 to 2 barrel adapter, what kind of flow will that give you? Carb height issues afterwards?
I am not trying to beat you down over this but I have been there long ago in my teens. 258 inline six in an AMC. basically a Ford engine under an AMC label. I monkeyed with all the stuff you are talking about and made little to no improvement. Infact it ran slower some areas than before.
Regardless if its a 4,6 or v8, you really need to match componets, compression, cam, carb, cyl hyd and so forth to make engines run better. If you are not careful you end up with one long power band with dismal HP and torque numbers. Almost any old timer on here will tell you they have built a dog by accident at one time or another
Your 200 six in "stock" form with a free flow muffler and electronic ignition will run far better and longer in my opinion, and you will pull down way more MPG than your V8 counterparts

Yeah my dad is wanting to buy a carb from autozone. I have most of those mods you say about the 200. My 200 is bored .040 though. But I have a straight through glasspack muffler, and Petronix Ignitor setup.

I still need a 1v carb. Autozone has canceled the last 2 orders we have put in. 1st they said the company quit making it. 2nd time they said they don't have in it stock.... I needed the carb today because the mustang broke down yesterday. I can't drive it anywhere. It is currently parked in my church parking lot under it's car cover.

A few years back , AAA and Geico teamed together to try to get radar detectors outlawed across the whole USA. For that reason I'll never do business with either, and when I'm in restaurants that have the little pamphlet kiosks with AAA info, I routinely chunk them in the trash...
