Where to Buy New Pony - North Alabama

Hi...I'm new here and am considering buying a new mustang. Can anyone tell me where the best place is to order an '08 ? Or maybe what dealers I should avoid ? I live in Madison.

I'm a sport bike and vintage 2-stroke bike guy. Never been a car guy so I've lots of research to do. I'm wanting a GT and sooner or later I would like to throw in some more power. Any advise is greatly appreciated.

BTW...Bob Jones HS is in my back yard so I'm hoping to talk to a few of you guys and look at your cars at the upcoming show.

Here's my H2. Anyone here remember these ?

Hello Ric, and welcome to the area!

The club's main sponsor is Woody Anderson Ford (http://www.woodyandersonford.com/). The club has enjoyed a long-standing relationship with them. There is also a new feature that when you buy a new Mustang from them, you will automatically be a member of the club.

Hope to see you at the BJHS car show!

P.S. Although I know nothing of bikes, that one looks very sharp!

Thumbs up

Although I have bought many vehicles through Woody Anderson I would have to recommend Gilbert & Baker Ford in Albertville. I recently purchased an F350 from them and the experience was pleasureable to say the least. It was night and day from what I was used to. It was worth the drive! PM me and I'll fill you in.

When I bought my '93 Cobra (new), I bought it at Dan Wachtel Ford in Athens, speaking directly to Dan (i.e., I didn't even talk to a saleman). I got it cheaper than Woody Anderson was asking for two USED ones they had on their lot at the same time. I like what Woody does for us as a club, but I don't feel it's my responsibility to make their retirement payments. It's the same with new Ford parts - you can get them much cheaper elsewhere.

Hi Ric,

Don't know if you remember me, but you bought the Honda 450 Bomber from me. How is your resto going? I just started a '74 Suzuki GT750 Water Buffalo, and a 1970 Triumph TR-6R 650. If you're ever in NE Huntsville, stop by and see me. As to the Mustang purchase, we got the best deal at Woodys...although to be fair, my son works there, and we got his employee discount. We bought a loaded '07 GT convertible with auto( in God-awful Grabber Orange ) for less than a low option, 5 speed coupe would have cost normally. I'm not 100% sure, but we may be able to get you a discount there by going through my son. Let me know if you want to check into that. PM me if you want to drop by, and I'll give you my new address.

Ric,
I would definately go with woody anderson, If you would like me too i will make a couple of call to some people and try and find the one you want. I've got a few connections @ woody anderson. I know them well enough that if they dont have it on the lot, they would/ probably buy one or trade one of thers for the one you want. lemme know.

Hey Jan !! of course I remember you. I've been by your house a couple times but nobody home. The Bomber is restored and looks great. It's not prefect yet. As it happened I was out of a job for six months so I had to cut back. I've since rejoined the working and am having the tank repainted. When I get it back I'll bring it by your house.

Didn't you have an X6 ? Do you still have it ?

I'm in a strong mood to get a new Mustang. I'll have to see ya for sure !

Ric

Here's the latest version of the Bomber resto....

ThX a ton for all the quick replies !

I'm not a fast mover when spending tens of thousands so I expect it will be a month before I sign on the dotted line.....but who knows.

No 2-strokers here huh ?

Hey Jan..how ya like this RD I built from the ground up. Ported, milled, chambered, etc, etc.....some 61 hp to the ground and about 335 lbs dry. It's a hoot to drive.

I would reccomend Woody Anderson, also. They took my X plan when Gilbert & Baker was STILL trying to get ADM in Nov. 05. Gilbert & Baker will rip you off if it is not a truck. Their Mustang selection is 1/20 of Woody Anderson's.

As you can see, Ric, the opinions and experiences vary as much as the people responding.

I wish you well in your shopping experience. And DO enjoy all of those test drives!

Woody Anderson is right here (in HSV) and worth your giving them your business. There are several other Ford dealers in/around a 50-100 mile radius, but Woody is your best bet I believe for cars, trucks, parts, service.

Ric,

The old Bomber sure looks nice now, I just didn't have the time to redo it when you bought it..I had 6 relatives pass away within a 6 month period (both of my parents, an Aunt, my wife's Father, uncle, and cousin) so everything was on the backburner for a while. Lately I've been plugging away on my '66 Mustang GT, my sons' 94 GT project and about a half dozen other "projects"...I'll have to live to be about 125 to finish what I have started right now....That RD looks great, I've owned about a dozen RD-350's and one RD-400 Daytona Special, they are really great bikes, still like the Kawi' triples best, though. I just traded for a Suzuki GT-750 triple that was a stalled restoration project, hopefully I can finish it over the winter.
I've moved since I sold you the Bomber, email me at janboggs@hotmail.com and I'll give you my new address, it's only about 2 blocks from where I was. Look forward to seeing you.
JB

Well I dont know about all that! But I will say yeah our mustang selection isnt the best IMO.I wish we did have more because I am a stang guy. But we do have an 07 Cobra Shelby gt 500, And a shelby gt 500 on the show room floor. Also I drove by Alexander Ford in Boaz and they have alot of stangs. They had a few of the CS/SC stangs on their lot, which we dont.
BTW I am not a salesman for G&B ford. I just work there!

Just knocking the salesmen I tried to deal with. I still do business with G&B. I bought my Explorer there, and have it serviced there under warranty.

Oh, and congrats, Ric!
