Use a fork if you didn't get a special tool to remove them.

 

before you remove it you might want to tell is why your removing it, there might be a way around taking it off and making it prone to falling off from now on

 

i got that done last night. Back to my clutch, there are 2 nuts on the end of my adjustment rod that were not holding anything in place but were just sitting there, there was no pin or anything to hold it in so i put one bolt on each side of the clutch linkage and adjusted that to the right length, i then attached the return spring and when i went to test the clutch resistance, it basically pulled itself to the floor????

 

Take it to a mechanic. You're in over your head.

I'm going by there tomorrow to look at it, he lives about 10-15 minutes from my house.

Way to go Alex! If at first you don't succeed, try, try again! Early Mustangs really are just simple mechanical devices. While you're in the learning curve, I recommend you start building a toolbox that you can take to college with you to keep the Mustang maintained when you get there. Also a notebook of items you've repaired or learned along the way might be helpful in the future. kennyg

 

I do some of that with mine. I carry a socket set and jumper cables with me where ever I go.

 

That would be helpful. The main thing that confused me was when I took off the adjustment rod, the two nuts, that are supossed to be attached to either side of the clutch linkage, were both on the same side of the linkage towards the back of the stang. Thankfully I had you guys to give me some advice, and my Chiltons book. Whoever had this stang before me didnt know what they were doing (like me on some parts)

 

Actually, both of those nuts go on the back side of the fork. The first one is the adjustment, the next is a locking nut to keep the first one in place.

 

Mine has 1 nut on the side that is toward the front of the mustang.

 

Thats what it showed on the diagram i have in my chiltons book, and im driving my stang and it drives fine now
