superchargers
i've got this going in several forums, trying to educate myself on 4v's and the mach's/ 99-01 cobras. so here it goes
i know the mach 1's are 10.1 :1 and love the FI i've read that 8-9 psi is the farthest you want to push the boost to with the CR as high as it is. so could you retard the timing and get more boost safely? since im seeing that the timing @ like 15*-20* would kill the motor could you put it at 9-11* and put a smaller pully and have the boost at like 9-11psi and still be safe?
what is the limit to the block and internals? would an internal cooler help the power safely go up?

Mach's like the juice moreso that FI. Their higher compression isn't the most conducive to FI. And those that have went 'big' on the FI (Twin Turbo's or Procharger D1SC) have rebuilt and gone with a lower compression ratio. (See the compression ratio on 03/04 Cobras at 8.5:1.)
There are plenty of Mach's running around with safe tunes under 450hp to the wheels, and there are also some that have blown-up at a relative small psi. (I assume you have read through some of the threads on the mach1registry.com.) Again, seems the tune makes or breaks FI on Mach's.
And most definitely go with an intercooler.

i've read all the procharger stuff and power adder stuff in the registry, and im seeing people with 450+ with the procharger setup and intercooler and it seems they running hard and strong and long....would a KB or whipple do the same thing?....im scared of the gas.

I think so. Seems those that have gone with the KB are obtaining some good results on the dyno and drivability.
I have thought about this in my head over-and-over and if cost wasn't an option I'd go with the Hellion Single Turbo kit first, KB second, and P-1SC third. I ALMOST pulled the trigger last fall on a used P-1SC kit that was in GREAT condition, and a GREAT price, but never went through with the deal. Since cost is a factor I may go the P-1SC route someday but right now I am having a blast driving her with me current mods.
As of right now I am trying to drop weight, finalize my suspension so that I have a consistent 12.4-12.6 1/4 mile Mach (ran a best of 12.9 on stock drivetrain to date) that handles like she's on rails. I'm close on the suspension just need a panhard and Bilstein shock/struts.

If you decide on a P-1SC, it seems installation is easier on the 2003 Machs vs. 2004, and there are a couple very good threads regarding installation on M1R. I might in fact be subscribed to one or two.

heres the non intercooled 5psi KB $4799.99

and the intercooled p1sc
iwhich one would you go for on those choices? and what is the limit on the internals on the mach?

drooling , thats what i want for my 97 vert! KB is my choice of FI on a 2 valve , if i had an 03-04 cobra block i would go with turbo though, that way boost builds slowly as you accelerate(ok so not slowly) it does help daily driving since your not trying to get 450-550 rwhp to the ground on a wet day !

Yes the KB reaches full boost pretty much instantly, but you can easily control weither or not you are in boost or not. This car is my daily driver and I have driven in rain, snow and sleet.

381 rwhp 410 ft/lbs of torque on the daily driver tune
I could push more but I wanted reliability.
I know there are some tuners in the area but I don't know how much they charge and I know they don't have the reputation that Modular Powerhouse has. I didn't want to save $50 to $100 bucks on a tune and then have to pay a couple thousand dollars down the road to replace a blown motor. I think I paid $400.00 for a 5 position chip and 4 different tunes ( 93 octane, 91 octane, race fuel, and a valet tune).
