Strut bar = bent hood :(

I installed a strut bar on my 2007 GT today. My hood does not close properly now. Any suggestions, other than just take it off? I love the way it looks but it is not worth it if it warps my hood

What STB did you install? Also, is your hood insulation the newer style with the indent for a STB?

As far as the brand, I do not know. A man took it off his 2007 and sold it to me. I still have the stock 2007 hood with the stock hood scoop. There does not appear to ba an indention in the hood for the STB.

The only possible thing I can think of is that it is a 2010 STB. They are taller and fit under the power dome hood but not a 05-09 hood. Maybe he had it under a cowl hood or something, or who knows, but a picture would sure help to solve it.

Is it silver?

It is black. Supposedly came off a 2007 Shelby.

Well that rules that out.

It is very odd for sure.

Was it a GT500 or a Shelby GT?

What type of hood do you have now? Or are you just saying that the stock hood is still installed?

It very well could be the older style hood insulation as the newer version that started being used in 07 has a defined indent for the STB. I can take a picture of mine if it would help.

Thumbs down

Don't cut anything.
It looks like a Shelby alright.
Made for a totally different hood
That looks the one for the GT500.
Get a GT500 hood and you will be fine.
