Register with Vintage Original tag?
Register with Vintage Original tag?
I didn't know this was possible in Alabama - cool idea!

As I understand it, Alabama did not have car titles before 1975, so tags 1974 and older can be used on Alabama vehicles. I have had a '65 plate on The Old Stud for almost 2 years, and it is considered a vintage tag, has a vintage sticker.
1974 and older tags are out there - eBay, swap meets, etc....I do have a few if anyone is interested.

I do have a 1967 Alabama tag, but it has a 41 prefix, which is the 2d part, I do not know if it has to be a 47 tag to register it is Madison Co, especially since they are using others than 47 now. I would suggest calling the Court House to get that answer - you will have to go to the court house to register the tag, since the satellite offices won't do it.

I have one for each of my VWs. You do not have to have Madison county tag to register. As long as the number is not already taken. one word of caution, technically you are only supposed to drive the vehicle in parades and club events or to the repair shop. I don't know how they enforce that though. I will use mine until someone says something about it.
