Online tire stores -- tires-easy.com

Has anyone used http://www.tires-easy.com/ ???

I thought I got the link from one of the threads here but can't find it now.

I've used tirerack 8-10 times over the past 5 or 6 years with great success but they don't have the size I need at the price I want to pay.

Looking for any feedback.

Thanks,
Casey

I've heard about them and their prices are allright, but when you add mounting and balancing and shipping your not saving all that much. Discount tire if you have one out there will match the tirerack prices and they give you free tire repair and rotation, along with great customer service.

I'm the one that posted the link about Tire-Easy.

I bought 4 tires and had them mounted and balanced at Wal-Mart.

No problems, I would use them again. They seem to have more lower priced brands than TireRack which I have also used.

If you get the tires mounted at Wal-Mart, you can also get the lifetime balance/rotation pretty cheap.

Here is a link to the other thread where I give the prices I paid for the tires, shipping, and the Wal-Mart mount/balance.

Even after paying for mounting and balancing, I was out the door cheaper. What I did in the past with my wife's Cobra was to buy Kumho 245/45/17's for about $100 a piece, total was $440 shipped. Take them to Big-10, have them mount and balance and then get the lifetime rotate and balance with it. Overall, I'd have $525 give or take a few dollars in the whole job. There wasn't one place in town that would put tires on her car that cheap. Most, if not all were $600-$700.

Before we sold her 98 Cobra, I put 3 sets of Kumho's on the car. Daily driving, the tires lasted 35-40k and that was balancing every 6k miles.

With her new car, both places I called in town -- yes, was going to give the local guys a chance -- said they'd have to order them, might take a few days, and it would be cheaper for me to buy them from tirerack and then they'd put them on. They were 215/45/18's so that might have had something to do with it. I ordered from tirerack on a Monday morning, they were at my front door Tuesday evening.

Great, thanks. I asked because they had 165/80/15's for less than $50, two different brands. Tirerack had BFG's which were $75 or so. I need them for some Weld draglite 15x3.5 wheels that I plan to use at the dragstrip. It's an oddball size that might be hard to find locally.

How fast are you planning to go and what rating of tires are they?

Kumho POWER STAR 758 165/80 R15 87T

T rating is good to 112 mph.

I haven't been to the track in 12 years. The last time I did, I ran 85mph. I don't imagine going much faster than that, maybe 87 mph tops. Could be fooling myself and might not crack 80.

Yep. I remember the 1st set being about $100-$110 and the last set was around $90. Now, they can be had on tirerack for $86 per tire. Not bad for 245/45/17's.

yea I can get them for 528 out the door mounted balanced the whole 9 yards from discount tire. I just think it is worth a few bucks more to not have to order the tires from one place and then take them some where else to have them mounted and balanced. If you ever have a problem with the tire (which I know is rare) they can take care of you right down the street as opposed to sending it back some where.

If we had a Discount Tire around here, I'd definitely try it. The first set of tires I put on the Cobra, I paid $800 at a local tire store for Falken tires -- tires, mount, balance etc. Then, after reading around on The Corral, I found that many users were using Kumho tires mainly because of the price. When we bought tires again, I called around to 3-4 stores in the area and none carried Kumho. The lowest quote I received was $600 or so. I found I could save $100 by ordering from tirerack and then letting the local store mount/balance the tires. For $100, I'll drag a set of tires down to the tire store. Now, tirerack will ship your tires to your installer.

Thankfully, I haven't had a problem with any of the tires I've ordered online. So far, I've bought 3 sets for her Cobra, 1 for her Speed 6, 2 sets for my Mustang, and 3 sets for my Mazda PU.

Tires-easy will also ship to your store. I could have sent them to Firestone, but had them shipped home, then put them in the back of the Cobra and drove to Wal-Mart for the cheaper mount/balance deal.
