my tranny is getting hard to shift...

yup...noticed it the other day...I backed out of my parking spot and stopped went to put in first and I couldn't get it to go...I live on level ground so I attempted to put in second and it wouldn't drop into gear, so I tried third, and lurched it forward and then back into first no problem, but have been noticing my shifter has been taking a little more effort to go into gear. I checked the tranny fluid, and I guess this guy never changed it, it was dark! so I'm gonna take it to the craft shop sometime this week and drain and refill with some good stuff.....iritates me, cause I was told all the fluids in the vehicle were changed when I picked the car up. so I guess I'm gonna be doing the following fluids....since I've already done the other.

tranny
intercooler (+1 bottle of water wetter)
radiator (+1 bottle of water wetter)
power steering
brake

and of course last but certainly not least
turn signal fluid
muffler bearing oil
flux capacitor coolant.

but hell, it's cheaper to have a shop change any one of those fluids then it is to fill up my car with gas anymore!

ok.. two stories along that line ( fluids and such ) the first i may stand corrected on as it`s been so long ago ... a fellow i know said he had to buy a new driveshaft because it was leaking trans fluid ..i look at it and sure nuff you could wipe everything clean and in a few moments some drops of red trans fluid would fall from the u-joint.. it was an automatic car.. i thought that was impossible .. an older more expierenced mechanic said " no it can happen " .. it had to have some kind of inner yoke seal replaced as it was where the yoke was allowed to get air to breath and slip on and off ... does that make sense .. i`m trying to remember 30 years back...story # 2 happened not long ago ... a guy bought a car ... stripped it down to nuthin and had the trans rebuilt ..the rearend .. and all the u joints replaced ... when he put it all back together he only filled the trans with dope ( 4 speed car ) when he drove the car he very quickly burned up the new rear end .. took the car to the guy who rebuilt the rear and trans and demanded he fix it ... the mechanic went to pull the chunk out and found it dry .. " didnt you put dope in the rearend he asked the owner ... " no " was the reply ... why did`nt the dope i put in the trans go all the way back to the rear ... he told the mechanic that something was wrong with the driveshaft that didnt allow dope to circulate to the rear end
