Looking for some advice

So i left the 20" wheels with a local wheel place for them to sale on consignment... all i was asking out of them were $1200 ... anything more they kept. Left them about 2 months.. they NEVER put them out.. or attempted to keep em clean. Now these wheels only have 5K on them... still brand new.. well when my father and I went to pick them up we loaded them up then i noticed the center caps were missing. So I went in and asked them about them... they had 3 of them behind the counter.. all 3 were broke! I was pretty ticked off then.. so i went on home to calm down a little then called them about it.. owner said he would replace them for me. Now its been uhm..3 months!!!!!! Im getting the run around everytime i call. The owner wont even speak to me about it now. I cant sell the wheels because of the broke caps now..

I did call the BBB today about it and they said they are a member and to write them a letter stating the case. Is this worth the effort? Will they actually get them to replace these.. or will this just go on file against them? I dunno what to do here. If these caps were $5 or so each i would just cut my loss and pay for them myself.. but they are $30+ each! Im about to lose my patcience with them though.. i know ive tried talking this over with them.. yelled at them.. chewed them out over it.. and then just asked WHY NOT JUST PAY IT??? Any advice guys?

If you can find the time to write a letter and go through official channels I most defiantly would. Business's count on people in your situation to just get frustrated and eat the cost that the business is clearly responsible for. Just think of it as the chance to save another Mustanger the grief of having to go through the same thing.

I would write the letter to the BBB. Give a copy to the store and then give them 2 weeks to respond. If they don't want to pay up then send the letter to the BBB. Follow up with the BBB and find out anything else that you are entitled to do. Just remember when dealing this business to always remain clam and keep your cool (even though you are boiling on the inside).

Dumb question, what was your total purchase amount with this company? This often affects their (tire company) motivation to help or resolve a situation. I am sure the BBB is going to ask for details on this as well. Just a thought.

When I lived in Lousiville, there was a small claims court where you could bring up claims of up to $500 for free.

I didnt puchase the wheels from this place.. i got them from discount tire direct. Then when i sold the 05 i had them try and sell them for consignment which they do quite often for folks. But the wheels I have $2700 in.

20" wheels look perfect on a 05+ stang. Anything smaller looks like a donut out of the trunk......trust me i went through 17" and 18" and both looked crappy. Oh and the car was lowered an inch all the way around..

Here is my two cents, not sure any business transpired here. They may have attempted to sell your rims (Maybe). BBB will be looking for bad business practices. I dont know if consignment falls under their expertise. Were they charging a percentage or something that would imply a business transaction or was it presented as a "favor" If it was a favor....Well you know the rest. What was the commitment they made with you?

not really a favor they do consignement for anyone. The agreement was anything over $1200 i think was theirs and they would put the wheels out everyday take care of them and sell them for me.

Ive already mentioned a small claims law suit but the idiot working there just did the same old thing said nothing. Guess they dont care much about their reputation huh?

I guess my father and I are just gonna go down there tomorrow and have to have a talk with them in front of their other customers since they refuse to discuss this issue over the phone...

Good luck on the guilt and shame program, it may be the best option in this case. Keep us posted on the results.
