Just Too Funny!!!
Just Too Funny!!!
Talk about ironic. I'm a Star Wars fan but wow, a Jedi religion.

I remember hearing about this years ago, probably around 2001 as the article states. I believe there was a vote in the UK if they would officially recognize Jedi as a religion.
A lot of the Bible can be seen in the Star Wars story.
The way Yoda talks is a lot like Proverbs.
The Metachlorines (Force particles) is like the Holy Spirit.
The Light Side is God, the Dark side the Devil
Yoda lifting Luke's ship out of the mud, similar to the parting of the Red Sea. I mean the stronger with the Force one is in Star Wars the more they can do. In the Bible the closer to God you are the more you can do, even move mountains, etc. The same can be said for the Dark side, having different "Power" levels.
Meanwhile this struggle in Star Wars of the Light vs Dark side goes on without the majority of civilization being aware of the struggle. Just as in the real world, the majority of people go day to day being unaware of the eternal struggle, not believing or not caring.
I don't think Lucas was trying to push religion on people, I think he just thought it made for a good story, basically he wrote aa Religious Western in space and just about everyone loves it, even people that do not believe in God.
It's kind of sad how many people argue about if Star Wars fought Star Trek, who would win. They analyze every part of the movie about what could come true in the future as far as technology. They almost believe in Star Wars, including the Jedi powers, but if you asked them about God or the church they would laugh and look at you as though you were crazy.
