I challange you.....

....said the Dodge to the Ford. But which Ford? If what I read on MSN is to be believed, the new Dodge Challenger will be base priced at over $37,000 which makes it way more expensive than a base GT and will have 425 hp which puts its Hemi at way less power than a Shelby GT500 which is what it seems to be going up against especially since less than 7000 units will be produced, meaning price gouging will be expected like the Shelby. So what kind of muscle car war will that produce? None. I imagine

Maybe it doesn't matter as Dodge believes no potential mustang owner is a potential challenger owner and therefore nothing about the two need be comparable but it does seem odd. We'll just see what the crapmaro finally offers....

The camaro will have the looks, but I don't think it will have the performance. We just have to wait and see.

well if it's anything like the last issue, the camaro will offer a cheap plasticky build quality rivaled only by a child's lego playset. I owned one of those mighty LS1 twins (Trans am version) and nothing's more embarrassing than beating a guy stoplight to stoplight only to have to go back and pick up all the pieces that fell off

What I don't get it is why only offer a automatic version for the first year. I don't believe there target audience is going to be happy about not having a manual transmission option.

If they are autos you would think that means they are holding back the good trannys for the good engines.

Idk but i can alredy bet if thier is a 5.0 wiht 400 hp it walk over that challanger and wont be no need for the gt 500 to waste its time on such a poor car. The camaro might give a challange but my mom had one the inside was falling apart it was a 2000 it sucked :/

I've seen the 09 Camaro in person. They look Awesome! Interior is like that of the 60s models.

I like the look of several 60's and 70's cars, however I couldn't deal with their out dated interior. From those Spy shots of the Camaro, I won't care much for it's interior either, the gauges look awful, the vents in the center are huge, doesn't cut it, outside will still look great though.

I think Chevy really messed up by delaying the Camaro so long. They had a golden window last year if it would have been released within a few months of the release of Transformers. It will still sell well, but some of the PR from Transformers has died off, now we all want IronMan suits instead! :-) Of course gas continues to rise in price, and the market for a Big V8 is shrinking.

The predictions are the next Vette will go down in engine size and horsepower. It's expected they will try to match today's performance numbers via less weight, smaller body, etc.

Will this make V8 cars worth more in 10 years or will they plummet in price? My 2nd car is a 928S4 and I've noticed some good deals on them lately. I had expected them to start to rise, but high gas prices and Low MPG don't make them good daily drivers, it doesn't seem like many people want to spend $ on a weekend car at this point. Many people are selling boats and RV's as well.

Gas has finally gotten to the point where most Hybrids make sense. Keep them for 2 years and you should recoup your $ in the gas you saved, plus it should be easier to re-sell and have a higher re-sale value.

2008 6.1L HEMI is the best engine they are putting in it...so far. In 09 they are going to offer manual transmissions along with new engine options a 3.5L V6 and a 5.7L V8.

What I did not relize is the 2008 curb weight is 4100LBS!!!!

Talk about a PIG!!!

btw, not to get off subject here but 4100 pounds? That's why we have such poor fuel economy. The engines are fine and efficient enough. The problem is we shove them in leather bound M1 tanks and expect great fuel mileage. Time for ALL cars to go on a diet and stay under 3000 pounds

Not to be picky, but you need to compare the price to a Shelby GT500 then, not a base GT.
