I use a kerosene heater, you know, the R2D2-looking ones, from Lowes. It was 70 bucks about 3 years ago when I bought it. It's silent, and odorless once it's up to temp. I've even fired it up in the garage, waited for the flame to settle, then used it in the house since it's rated for indoors. Nice having a garage at almost 70 degrees when it's 20 outside. You just need to keep in mind that there's an open flame nearby, so be careful with gas or solvent fumes.
