Garage Propane Heater

Anyone ever bought a propane heater for their garage? I am getting prepared to do some upgrades to my car over the X-Mas break (Dual Fuel Pumps, Pulley, Belt, Tune) and its pretty cold in my 3-stall... I was looking at a forced air propane heater at Lowes for like $100 but wanted to get some opinions from you folks...

Anyone?

First off i would definantly have a window or a garage door cracked if you did do that. But I have used butane heaters before in my garage and they were ok.

If you get one of those make sure you have air circulation. The fumes could get trapped inside. We have an electric heater that we usually use in our garage.

I like the bullet heaters. Those will warm the place up in no time.

read the reviews. looks like if you get one with a working fan you should be alright. its probably the right size for the square footage your trying to heat. I'm guessing less than 1000 sq ft?? Does you house heat runn off propane also?

That's the one.. No, house is on electric... I am wondering if (for the sake of safety) I should just go with electric...

I use the "don't work on the car until it's warm enough" method.....and you don't miss any football games that way either!

I bought one of those "Mr. Heater" ones awhile back from Summit Racing.

It's the 30,000-50,000 BTU one and heats my two car garage very well. I'll usually turn it on and in about 10 minutes or so I'm turning it down to it's lowest setting. Just the other night it was below 30 outside with strong winds making it feel much colder.. even on it's lowest setting that heater kept my garage above 70. I even had to shut it off a few times because it was getting too warm.

Pic so you can see the size of the garage. It has vents near the roof to let out any fumes the heater puts out.

Propane Heaters

I use two ventless propane heaters in the house and no ventilation is required. Propane burns 100% clean. So much so that if you convert your auto to run on it, over time all of the carbon deposits go away.
When propane is produced a chemical agent is added so that if you have a leak you will smell something much like rotten eggs. If the pilot light goes out on my heater in the house it takes about 3 seconds at the most to auto-shutdown. You never smell it.
I have yet to pour the floor in my garage at home and I am going to install a radiant floor heating system that circulates through a standard water heater. PEX tubing is only $25- per $100- feet so the system cost can be quite affordable and reliable. In the meantime I'm working on a heat system that runs on CH4. Some of you know what that is. :-)
