Thought I would post this up. I am making my mustang a custom console to go in it since I don't want to pay 900 for a new one. It will hold 2 gauges(the two circles are where they will be) and have 2 cup holders. Made out of fiberglass while the mach will be out of foam. Got the foam at lowes today for around $9.

Yes, it will be fiberglass. The foam is only the model.

You better do a compatability test on that styrofoam with some of the activated fiberglass resin before applying it to your console form/mold. Be aware of the hazardous vapors that it all may put off. I'm betting the styrofoam will melt away, and quickly. Good work on the concept and model. kennyg

I will use the styrofoam as my mold. Then If it doesn't melt, melt the styrofoam so that I have only the fiberglass.

Hey Ken, is there not something that he could lay over his mold that would not stick to the fiberglass?

Back to that test of materials, try saran wrap or thicker plastic like used for vapor barrier under concrete. Taping poster board, cut to shape, to his mold would work as a shield between the fiberglass and styrofoam, and would clean up some edges. kennyg

I might try the saran wrap. I'm going to search for some other methods.

Here's a couple of pics of a Vega GT rear spoiler mold that I cast off of an original spoiler. You can't see the fine details, but the original came off a drag car and had decals on it which I left to be cast into the mold. I smeared vasoline on the original as a release agent, then applied 2" X 6" strips of fiberglass mat soaked in resin to the spoiler. Used a bondo spreader to chase out any air bubbles. Was fun to get the 2 parts seperated after curing, but succeeded! kennyg

Well I am stopping the fiberglassing early. It wasn't working well. My dad knows a guy that can make it out of metal for me. So I have to make another mach and give it to him sometime.

I have added 2 more custom pieces to the mustang over the week. Wanted to get some opinions about them. First two pics are the finished product and the other 2 are after I cut them out and was test fitting them.

Whose 2bbl carb in that? here is a shot of my 6er with new headers and DUI.
would like to up grade to a 2bbl.
Oh btw, air filter is off for photo.

That is a holley/weber from stovebolt. I can't fit a air cleaner on it because of the adapter.

I'm dealing with a similar situation on a '65 with a 250 6-cyl. A previous mechanic or owner had drilled a second set of mounting holes on the intake to use the original 1100 carb like you had. An air cleaner wouldn't clear with it. I've search around for a shorter carb without much luck. I recently purchased a large 1-V carb for a '71 Mustang with a 250. It has an offset bowl that drops down on the side. This carb ought to make this 250 run right. I have a mid '80's aluminum air cleaner from a Granada, it won't clear either. My plan is to use just the base, massage the area around the carb flange to clear this carb, then cut the vertical portion off the perimeter to allow for complete airflow around the filter element. Still with no room for the element and lid, I'm going to get an element that will rest against, or just under the inner hood surface when closed, thus creating a 'closed' air cleaner. Could use some of that camper shell foam tape to fill in any imperfections/gaps at the hood contact area. The only other restriction is clearing the hood structure. I happen to have a buyer's guide with filter dimensions which will help in choosing the required filter without asking my favorite parts specialists to open a bunch of boxes until I locate 1 that will fit. kennyg

I am working on taking the base off. It has my throttle linkage, PCV tube, and water lines hooked up. Once I take that off I can fit a filter on it.
