Has anyone made their own cai? I have found a website that gives step by step instructions on how to make it. Good or bad idea????

Cold Air Induction.

My car has it from the factory. :-)

Cold air is always a good idea. Free horsepower.

And please do not confuse CAI with RA (Ram Air). Those are two different animals.

Ram air, is that when they put the little electric blower on the intake side of the engine?

Mine also came with a factory cold air intake. I just want to beef it up some. I need a little more hp. It is too expensive for a CAI and a tuner. Anyone know of a good used one for a 2007?

Here's the numbers for that myth:

A turbo is sometimes referred to as a hair dryer.

But RA is usually a couple of snouts on a factory car like the old-school Pontiac GTOs with the option and the Buick GS(X)'s. In fact, Pontiac used the trade name for several of their engines (loved that Ram Air III I had in my 69 Judge).

The actual definition is the tunnel rams of race cars where air is literally rammed into the engine at the point where there is positive perssure. Yet, the RA effect does not start until the car is hitting very high speeds. So, RA can make a very small impact on the race track where 1/1000 of a second is the difference between winning and losing, but it does nothing for the street.

But it sure looks cool! :-)

Save your pennies for a tune.
It will add HP and give a much better feel through the power band.
My car came without a CAI.
CAI alone gave me a whopping 4HP.
