99 gt wiring problems
hi guys 1 problem that still is being a pain in my swap is the headlight wiring
i don't know if it is a short or what bu when i use the stock headlight switch the dimmer spring actually glows red hot and the headlight s wont work
since then i have just pit in a toggle switch to the headlights however i know something is defiantly wrong because the wires get very warm, my toggle is setup on a 10 amp fuse and it does not blow it but when i touch the wires together i get serious arcing once it is together no problems! anyone know anything about the wiring on these cars or who i might need to take it to?

Has it always done this since the rewire, or just recently?
Did you replace the lights wiring harness as well; I just wondered if you would need to since they should have been very similar.
I'm afraid your going to have to break out the muli-meter and start tracking down some harnesses.

ya since the install it has done it, i can do alot but wiring is out of my league
i was thinking about having someone rewire the headlights with repays and have them setup as allways on when the car is running, that wayit would fix 2 problems
#1 i always forget to turn off the headlights
#2 wiring problem

Tracking down the wiring problem isn't realy hard, just a pain in the tail. If you decide to do the headlight thing I would use a switched 12v source to activate a solenoid. Otherwise you may overload the circuit that you are tapping into.
How about your highbeams; any problems with them?

What I mean does switching the headlights to "High" did that cause the dimmer switch to stop glowing?
If so that would mean that your extra current draw isn't connected to the high beams. If not then it is further upstream on the wiring harness. The good thing is that the wiring harness for the lights isn't that complicated.
