accident in 97 vert

wide was on her way home and the light turned yellow, the person behind her was not looking and plowed right into her, luckily the wife was not completly stopped so it did more of a push than hit , but the other persons car was totaled , early 90's probe,

remarkably the mustang was not bad, so far i found

right exhaust pushed in enough to break the exhaust hangers, and bend the tie rod on the independent rear suspension,

bumper is pretty toast,
tails are pushed in about 1/8 inch in the middle, the door skin popped off @ the top rear of the door seems the chassis flexed and the rear quarter hit the door (wonder how much worst if i didnt have weld in sub frame connectors)

it appears the driver side door spacing is now smaller than the passenger side, hope the car is not tweaked, it was definatly hit harder on t he right side, weird part is the left side is what looks tweaked!

car is going into the shop on the 1st hope it is back in time for the show on the 10th!!!!!!!

man that sucks.. trust me i know.. Ive been hit in the rear end twice! Hope your wife didnt get hurt or was sore much. Same damage was done to my 02..busted the tail lights knocked off the exhaust..and poped a dent in the driver side quarter. Also totaled the other persons car that hit me. I ended up with some rough back probs from it but didnt bother settleing with them for injury.. just make sure your wife is 100% ok!!! I really regret it now. Good luck gettin the car fixed!!

I certainly hope that the wife is okay. Things like this sometimes take a day or three to really start feeling and you find what was hurt. I am sorry about the car, but after my NSETBX totaling two 5.0 Mustangs, they can be bought and sold with not even a bat of an eye. Yet, a human is much more precious.

I am glad to hear that she is okay. But, I would not call her "wide" to her face. :-)

Word to the wise, send your wife to a doctor and have a copy of the accident report put into the doctor's files. My wife had a similar issue and we thought she was fine. She felt a little stiff and didn't think anything. She went to a chiropractor and had some adjustments and got worse. Lawyers said that since the chiro is not considered a medical doctor that she didn't seek medical attention after the accident. Since she didn't see her regular doctor until about 3 weeks later, they denied our medical claims.

A year and a half later, my wife has rehabbed herself back to "normal" where she has to work out at least 3 times a week or her back gives her fits. We were out a total of about 8 grand in the past year due to bills that were not covered.

Send her in, if she's fine that's the best, but at least you have established that she was seeking medical attention as a result of this incident.

took it to woddy's to get an estimate, little over 2800 bucks , that is fixing the door and not needing any more replacement parts

then dropped it off at a friends shop, gave him all the insurance info then told him i want it completely painted and done by 8th of may !

the driver that hit my wife is fighting saying she was not wrong even though the police report says she was wrong,

my wife braked for a yellow light she didint how is she not wrong?

actually the police looked for skid marks and didnt find any, they are assuming she never hit thwe brakes due to how far she pushed my wife!

Don't you know?

Green light - Go fast.
Yellow light - Go faster.

I am afraid your wife is in the wrong according to Alabama traffic light rules.

I assume you're joking. You can't rearend someone and it not be your fault.

That is nothing. You should see what Sparkman high school can do to a pinto. We had smash a car save a life thing at school and a pinto was one of the cars. Sledge hammer away!

Ok back to the topic. Glad everyone was ok. Hope your mustang can make it to the show.

Yes, I was. It's an old stoplight joke.

But, you are wrong on the last part.
I rear-ended a person and they got a ticket and fixed my car.
They came off a ramp and had a yield sign. They did not yield, I slammed on my brakes and hit their rear bumper. Did a few thousand to me. Their insurance paid, he got a ticket for failure to yield.

I got rearended a few years ago on Florida, and I got that same ticket. I'm in the left lane on a 2 lane street intown. Speed limit is 45, I'm doing around that. Every 1/2 mile or so, there are medians so you can do a u-turn, or cross to the other side of the street. I need to turn around, so I hit the blinker and start to hit the brakes. I'm about half way into the median when I get rearended. Long story short, the cop barely talks to me and gives me a ticket for failure to yield. I should mention that I had NY plates on my car, and the cop told me that I was a liar. My insurance didn't have to pay one penny because the police report showed that she hit me and it was a bull**** ticket.
