65/66 Shelby Mustang Notchback?

OK
I did'nt know this but Shelby fooled around with a couple 65 notchback stangs in the begining of his Mustang adventure.Does anyone have any insight on this matter or maybe a picture of them?
Are they still in existence today?
Has anyone else heard of this?

Ok well i found some good info on www.1965gt350mustang.com and it says that the first 2 cars Shelby received in 1964 were notchbacks. These 2 cars were prototypes but received full race motors, suspenion, traction bars and some other little doo dads that later showed up on the GT350.Shortly there after Shelby received 2 fastbacks and those became the full blown GT350's.
The cars are not known to exist today. One of them was used as a Trans Am racer for a while. The other prototype was sold off.
I would love to run up on one of these forsale.

There were several 1966 notchbacks. All are listed in the Shelby registry and there whereabouts are known. I've seen several of them at SAAC conventions thru the years. They were used in Trans Am series in 1966. The reason was that Shelby had already homologated the fastbacks as two seaters (with the package trays replacing the rear seats) so he had to use the notchbacks in Trans Am as they were considered a different vehicle for homologation purposes.

No they did not have GT350 stripes on them. There are pics in "Shelby American Racing History" by Dave Friedman and in any of the Shelby American World Registries. There were 21 built in 1966. They were all "K" code cars. There was one prototype, and 16 "Group II" Trans-AM cars, as well as 4 "Group I" cars designated for use in Europe. In 1967 there were 26 Trans Am coupes built by Shelby and in 1968 there were 7 made. They won the Trans Am championship in 1966 and '67, but lost in '68 due to the infamous 302 Tunnelport engine that was not very reliable because of the extremely high rpm necessary to keep it in its powerband.

Pics of the '66 coupes can be found here: http://www.ponysite.de/66notchbacks.htm

Here's one:
