318 curves in 11 miles
318 curves in 11 miles
been looking at killboy.com and there are quite a few car clubs gettin together and running deals gap on weekends..i have ridin my motorcycle through the gap several times..would anyone be interested in a run thru there one weekend???maybe a group of 4 eyes??comon puter i know u like curves!!!!!
Great road. Just watch out for trucks coming the other way as they tend to block both lanes through turns and also DON'T cross the double yellow. There are cops on deer stands with cameras and radios calling ahead. They love to write tickets for this one.
Love the Gap, been there many times on a motorcycle, but never a car. Got to be carefull, though. My first day there, a guy was run over when his bike went under a truck, next day spent most of the day getting a guy up from a severe fall down a ravine. My buddy then wrecked his brand new GSXR 750 there on another trip. They call it the Dragon because it bites back!

Read all about it. Pitfalls as well as excitement abound. Just watch out for the Tennessee Highway Patrol. They're apparently quite vicious and not flexible in any way to cars and motorcycles... and are prowling the Dragon all the time.
Funnily enough, videos abound where they patently ignore the truckers who cross the lines... although the 'how an 18 wheeler is allowed' question comes up, as well as 'how in the heck do you expect them NOT to cross the lines? The curves are *stupid* tight...'
But that's just me, the outsider, reading it... and viewing it on youtube: http://www.youtube.com/results?searc...tail+of+the+dr
/SO wanna go do this in Awesome... and then follow it with Ride.
//I need a motorcycle trailer.
///Which means I'd have to put a hitch on Awesome, and I don't think she'd like it much...
////So I need a motorcycle and car together trailer behind an F250 or something, yeah?

If you want to meet up there one Wednesday I'm game. Probably would take around 3hrs I think to get there from here. Have you ever been on the Cherohala Skyway? It's a great drive, especially when the leaves are changing.
