01 bullitt
i've been reading up on the bullitts pending the new one's release. I know mberglo had one, and i was wondering whats the diffrence, what makes it better than the normal gt and why SOHC?
different intake manifold and throttle body, different exhaust, different suspension, red pony powdercoated brake calipers, the enginebay is clea rcoated, a bunch of interior bits some stuff on the outside. the actual list of differences from ford is pretty extraordinary.
The different intake and dual throttle bodies gave it a flatter torque curve that came in at a lower rpm. The real benefit is the improved suspension(stiffer springs, Tokico shocks and struts, tuned swaybars) and the Cobra 13" PBR brakes, that were just painted, not powdercoated. Dozens of styling cues set it apart as well.
I had a blast open-tracking my Bullitt and driving it to work on Monday. I miss the car, but it was the right decision to sell it.
It cost Ford $8k to modify the GT, and the Bullitt package was about $4k. A real steal. They enjoy a little premium on resale and are a great deal for someone looking for a GT. There are tons of low-mileage pampered collector cars out there that folks are giving up on and letting go for pennies on the dollar.

can be modded as easily as any other 2 valver, as for out performing. well they handle a lot nicer and i think the power curve is a bit better. The overall power increase was only rated at 5hp. i personally would like to buy one, but wouldnt go crazy with mods, i would just drive it. maybe a shifter and some springs
