Will you get one?
I dunno? For me it will come down to looks and price (What I can get it for). I was really excited about the Shelby GT, but all these markup stories make me wonder if I could get one for MSRP. I'm wondering if the Bullitt will be the same song and dance.
Right now I leaning toward just getting a 2008 GT, but will wait and see on the Shelby and/or Bullitt. Decision point will be ~10-12 months from now.

yes
It's what I've been waiting for since I first saw the '01 version and realized I didn't fit in the old body styles. I'll take any V8 powertrain (though I'd like a nice N/A 350+HP/torque motor).
I just hope:
A - they make enough since I won't be in the market until early '08.
B - they don't charge over $32K for the thing.
-DHG

I'm one of those folks for whom the Bullitt is the reason I bought a SN197. Of course, I was hoping that Ford at the very least would offer DHG as a color option (I "settled" for Tungsten) presumably before the 08 model year, but the look of the car was the primary attraction.
So the prospect of a Bullitt SE is very attractive to me. I would prefer it with a 5.4, but again, I would be willing to "settle" for a higher HP 4.6. The big issue for me is whether to trade my 06 GT for a Bullitt, or bite the bullet and build a bigger garage!

Let's say, for argument's sake, that Ford doesn't bother upgrading the suspension bits or brakes or any other mechanical components, and just gives the exisiting engine a silly 5 to 20 horsepower increase; some green paint; off-the-shelf Bullitt wheels; and a Bullitt badge, well then...
I'LL PASS.
Please do this car RIGHT, Ford!
And right means:
1) Minimum 4.6L niche engine producting at least 375 horsepower
2) Twin hood vents
3) 18" black Bullitt wheels
4) Wider rubber all 'round
5) Slightly lowered stance
6) Upgraded suspension bits (borrowed from FRPP kits if necessary - no big deal)
7) Modified seats with the vertical stitch pattern (just like the '01)
8) Ability to order all options/accessories currently available on the Premium GT
Ford NEEDS a Stang with some serious chops to fit in-between the GT and GT500 anyway. C'mon, Ford, lookin' for a Bold Move here!

1) Minimum 4.6L niche engine producting at least 375 horsepower
- That seems unrealistic. I can't see how such a power gain can be squeezed out of the 4.6. The 32v Mach 1 engine was rated at 305 hp but regularly dynoed at around 325 hp at the flywheel.
2) Twin hood vents
- With the introduction of the GT500 concept and production hoods Ford can easily introduce a similar version, most likely as the GT500 concept's.
3) 18" black Bullitt wheels
- That's a given.
4) Wider rubber all 'round
- Another given. Expect 255x45/18s.
5) Slightly lowered stance
- I expect the same suspension upgrades as the Shelby GT.
6) Upgraded suspension bits (borrowed from FRPP kits if necessary - no big deal)
- same as above
7) Modified seats with the vertical stitch pattern (just like the '01)
- Again, another given.
8) Ability to order all options/accessories currently available on the Premium GT
- If history is any indication, they will be part of the Bullitt package.

I bought a black V6 early this year, the Bullitt movie is really the reason i bought a mustang instead of an F-150. This is the car i have been waiting for and i will be getting it for sure. If even just for the color and what it is. Dark highland green is Bullitt. It doesn't need to be lowered or have some huge bling rims slapped on it. This should be a nostaligia piece that represents the very best in american muscle and reflect the movie car as closely as possible.
My god, the FRPP CAI and tune nets more than that!
Otherwise, I may have to reach for the
again.
I just like the classic stance, so we get more of this:

And less of this:

When you lower a mustang it just makes it look to much like a sports car, and less like a muscle car. It if my belief that there is a difference.

Ride height looks about the same to me.
I am interested to see what it comes with, but I am perfectly content with my car. My next mustang will be from the next body style. I really hope they do this right, though.
BTW, my answer is 'not interested'.
