- Two of Fordâs hottest new performance vehicles take the stage at Ford and NASCARâs championship weekend at Homestead-Miami Speedway Nov. 16-18.
- The 2008 Mustang Bullitt will pace the Ford 400 NASCAR Nextel Cup finale and the Ford 300 NASCAR Busch Series finale.
- The 2008 Ford F-150 Foose Edition will pace the Ford 200 NASCAR Craftsman Truck finale, and noted hot rod designer Chip Foose will be the celebrity pace truck driver.
- The Mustang Bullitt blends the latest in Ford Racing technology with the best Mustang ever.
- The Ford F-150 Foose Edition is the ultimate âstreet toughâ F-150.
The Mustang Bullitt, unveiled for media last week in San Francisco, will pace the Ford 400 NASCAR Nextel Cup finale, and the Ford 300 NASCAR Busch Series finale. The F-150 Foose Edition will pace the season-ending Ford 200 Craftsman Truck event.
âFord Championship Weekend, with big crowds and a national TV audience, is a tremendous opportunity to showcase Fordâs great products,â said Jamie Allison, manager, Ford Performance Group. âAnd the Bullitt and F-150 Foose Edition are certainly two of the most anticipated high-performance products from Ford coming for 2008.â
The Mustang Bullitt returns to the streets in 2008, blending the latest in Ford Racing technology with the best Mustang ever. The classic nameplate returns to wow enthusiasts with a blend of high performance, handling and the power that is expected from Mustang.
The latest version of the Bullitt will, of course, be Highland Green, true to the original car in the 1968 âBullittâ movie. It will feature a unique black mesh grille and special interior touches, and will deliver 315 horsepower out of the 4.6-liter, 3-valve, SOHC V-8.
âFord Racing supplied the parts packs for this car, complete with a Ford Racing pedigree,â said Allison. âMany of the suspension and powertrain components were inspired by the development of the championship-winning Mustang FR500C race car, so it features our latest technology. This whole effort was a great collaboration between Team Mustang and the engineers at the Ford Racing Performance Group.â
The Ford F-150 Foose Edition is the ultimate street tough F-150, as noted hot rod designer Chip Foose, star of TVâs âOverhaulinââ put his design stamp on Americaâs favorite pickup truck. Fooseâs design lowers the truck in the boulevard-spirit, while maintaining the Ford F-150âs Built Ford Tough heritage.
The 2008 F-F150 Foose Edition is the most powerful half-ton truck on the market, with a supercharged 5.4-liter V-8 delivering 450 horsepower and 500 lbs.-ft. of torque.
The Foose Edition F-150 was first discussed at the 2006 Specialty Equipment Marketing Association (SEMA) Show in Las Vegas, and one year later it is a reality.
Foose himself will climb behind the wheel of the F-150 Friday evening as the celebrity pace truck driver for the Ford 200 Craftsman Truck finale.
âThe F-150 Foose Edition is one more example of Fordâs âgo-fastâ process to bring unique niche vehicles to the marketplace,â said Allison. âItâs the same process that brought forth the Shelby GT500 and next yearâs Shelby King of the Road.
âWe always select some of our every best production vehicles to pace the Ford Championship Weekend,â added Allison. âWhen you think about the performance thatâs needed to pace NASCAR race cars on track, the Bullitt and the F-150 Foose Edition are the type of vehicles you need.â
Each of the pace vehicles have been equipped for their pace car duties with special decal packages and light bars.

I'll have to keep an eye out for one of those Bullitt pace cars. There's a guy that's works at Homestead Speedway, that also works out at our gym. He always gets to drive around one of the pace cars. Just in case, I'll keep my camera handy. I went once to the Ford 400 back in Nov. of 2002, mainly to get a glimpse of the 2003 Mach1 pace car, because a couple weeks later I was taking delivery of a Mach1. I took pictures of pace car and later shared them with Brad.

The GT-500 paced the Busch race, A Bullitt may pace the opening warm up lap prior to the green flag on Sundays race but most likely a GT-500 will pace the rest of the race.

TV coverage didn't provide many good views of the Bullitt. I know they're not going to focus on the car, I was just hoping we would get to see a bit more of it.
There was a great shot of all the cars coming out of a corner and coming down the track towards the camera, then suddenly they switched to all the in-car cameras- **** it!!!!

The second picture looks like it is in front of a Busch Race car. I didn't see the race so I don't know if it paced the Busch race on Saturday or not. It Definately was the Shelby on Sunday though. Too Bad...Ford Blew it!
