I think it's rather clever, if you look closer at it (takes some time). Not showing it creates a longer hype and more PR with a cheap trick, still they can benefit from it.
Ford is in fact showing parts of a Bulllitt (wheels and stuff), if you would read the Ford newsletter online
Best show I saw was once of a competitor of our company, having a huge screen wall, ladies serving champagne, announcing on the screen
"COMING SOON" News show at 12.00 1.00 etc.
Then, when it started, there was just coming again
COMING SOON
"Product name"
Best joke I ever saw on a big booth, picture it, hundreds people standing each hour for at least 10 minutes, waiting to see the news, talking with the booth staff about the topic and then "Gotcha".
The reason was in fact, they did not have the product ready, but had prepared the show, rented material and did not know what to show (or might have had a licencing problem....
. But this was a really clever marketing gag to save the issue.

Using the two 'Bullitt' cars to flog wheels, huh?
Wow.
Yep, it's true the BULLITT 2008 is a no show at the SEMA and we are sorry, but decisions can be revised at any time.
We've got confirmation. In order not to distract from the Edge, Fusion and other more aftermarket-bound modified cars, Ford decided not to launch it at the SEMA. Now let's wait in patience for the LA Auto Show (sorry, we got it wrong initially), where it makes more sense for Ford.
Still you can see the 68 replica and a 01 at the SEMA 2006 grouped with ...? A little surprise, but then again, not really.
It's a wheel display of BULLITT wheels. They'll gonna show on a special tonneau cover equipped white Mustang CV a set of BULLITT wheels together with the 68 and the No. 1 BULLITT 2001.

Wow.

I knew that white SEMA edition smelled like a replacement car.
I dont understand.....Why does ford need to showcase the bullitt wheels?? ITs not like we've never seen them before!
Wow, wonder how many meetings and memos and brainstorming sessions it took to come up with such a "impressive" display for this year's SEMA show.
"Impressive"???
Just like the site www.fordaccessoriesstore.com man is it lame. Overpriced stuff and doesn't even have any of the FRRP stuff for the Mustang... I mean whats the point?
Oh and the much ballyhooed "accessorizer".
They should put the FRRP stuff on there, get competitive with their pricing (even just a little bit!!!). Like this little gem for $400 msrp...

There are a whole lot of better looking wheels for less!

So a Bullitt debut at the LA Autoshow is the next possibility, I guess. Dec. 1st - 10th.
Barring that, looks like we'll have to wait till the 2007 NYIAS next April 6th - 15th.

I have heard form one of my friends at SEMA with one of the Bullitts. Here is what he said...
Both cars are at the entrance to the Ford display and are getting a lot of attention. When Ford reps were asked why they wanted both cars at the show, a very non committal answer was given, "we wanted the Bullitts here"
There is one other private opportunity to unveil the car on Weds. night at a Ford sponsored private party (AWSOME party if you ever get a chance to go to one!!!) in the Ford display area. Have to wait and see. This was the same party where Carroll Shelby got the GT500E chopper from American Chopper guys in 2004. So you never know.

Seems like they're enjoying creating a little mystery about this car by maintaining a disinformation campaign concerning it.
I'm still of the opinion that this car will get significantly more than a 10 HP increase...whenever it arrives.

The Bullits are outside with three other cars, they have 4 pairs, one old and one new. The Bullitts, the GT-H's, Shelby 500's, and Parnelli Jones cars. Check out my pics, 338 of them on photobucket here > http://s142.photobucket.com/albums/r90/jayguy4/
