San Francisco Auto Show, Black Bullitt Pics
I went to the SF auto show on Saturday, my first auto show, was expecting to see the green bullitt but instead they bring the black one. Chevy was also supposed to have the bumblebee camaro there, but apparently the transport wrecked before it got there...
Talking to the Ford people there for a few minutes, i'm pretty dissapointed, talking to the chevy people as well, no one knew what they were talking about. I asked the Ford rep why Sync isn't included on the Mustang, being Ford's hottest car. He said "Well, since the new Dodge Charger and.... uh... Challenger, came out, Mustang sales have gone down, they will probably introduce it next year..."
I was about to slap him upside the head and tell him the callenger isn't out yet! And the charger isn't really even in the same segment being a sedan.
I asked the Chevrolet guy what engine and what price range the Camaro would have, he said comparable to the Mustang, duh we already know that, and he didn't have a clue what engine would be in it.
I really wish they would put people out in the field who knew what they were talking about, instead of just hiring some college grad with a business degree that knows nothing about cars or their company, to represent their vehicles.
My indoor picture taking skills are not the greatest, alot of the stuff i took ended up blurry. Pictures below.

I was there also and got the same impression from the reps., some didnt even seem like they really wanted to be there at all. I was not impressed by the Bullit from the net pics I have seen, but it was much nicer in person. The one thing that puzzled me about the Bullit was that I thought it was supposed to have the ford racing suspension package on it, but it was not lowered at all. In fact, the stock GT that was there was lower. I wondered to myself if that was even actually a real Bullit, or something that was just badged and presented as one .
The painted fanblades were on a stock GT if I remember correctly.

That Bullitt might not have been a real one, the reps refused to open the door or pop the hood on it. It might have just been cosmetic.
And yeah the fanblades were on a fully loaded black GT that they had sitting there. They also had a Vista Blue GT500 which was locked and a red GT/CS.
The waterspots on the grille are pretty weak as well. I wonder how hard it would be to take a dremel took and cut out those black inserts in the grille...

Man that looks hot!!! I like the black better than the green!!!
The auto show itself was kind of strange. They were letting people sit in, touch, break, do whatever they wanted to most of the cars, except the ones that were locked, or on a spinning platform. Kids were crawling around inside $100k mercedes and all of the cars there, the only cars that they would not let you get close to were the bentley, lamborghini, jaguar, and lotus, which were fenced off. The cars must be trashed by the time they are done at the show.
The grille is my main problem with the Bullitt - and that applies to the all the S197's too. It's almost impossible to clean all the bug splats out of those things if you've driven it on the road for awhile unless you take it to the carwash and use the high pressure sprayer on it. Once those things get road grime all in the little crevices it's over, it'll always look dirty. I try to rinse mine off often with the garden hose and then use the leaf blower to dry all the water out of the crevices. I think if I were to get a Bullitt I might opt to take out the factory grille and replace it with a grille like the Shelby GT but in black that way I could keep the factory piece clean.
Did it have the engine turned dash panel?
All the interior stuff was there, the upgraded seats, the dash, black interior. Visually it looked good, i suppose it could have been a true Bullitt with all the engine and suspension upgrades, but then again, the car was not lowered that much, i think mainly what they did is just add better suspension pieces, not necessarly lower the car a bunch.

for not prepping a new release for an auto show. Attention to detail is alittle slacking on the grille!
