Future bullitt?
Let's face it, the existing Bullitt lacks horsepower compared to the original 390.
It need at least another 80 plus hp to contend, and the front of the car is plastic and a cheap version to the 68'. The front and rear end needs to be redesigned, along with the rear quarter panels. If we can get a higher thigh leg look on the quarters over the tire giving the body at least some curves (which it has none now) and the back needs to blow the window up and over as close to the 68' with the right tail lights then we might have something, look at the car, it's a box on wheels, it needs some life! I hope there is a redesign soon, because whatever you want to think, Ford still needs to get it right.

Wait ignore..... How do i delete my posts??
I can't see it happening. The 05-09 body style offered the almost perfect look on which to build the Bullitt. I think the only car Ford will be looking to bring back now is the Mach 1. But I think the 2014 redesign is going to take Ford away from the retro look. Mustang needs to be built to appeal to the next gen of car buyer. Us babyboomers got what none of us ever thought we would get- retro muscle mustangs from Ford. But I feel Ford will change up the look to appeal to what a younger generation of drivers will want. 18-32 year olds have no idea what Bullitt is.
Im 23 and I own a 2008 Bullitt and wanted one since I was 17 in which it was a 2001 bullitt...because the plain look with classic features.... and then i saw the movie bullitt...and it was set in stone.... i had to have one..

You are the exception that proves the rule. The fact that ONE 23 year-old owes a Bullitt out of how many millions of people in that 18-32 demographic is hardly incentive enough for Ford to keep building Bullitts.
See my post above. I'm pretty sure Ford is going to move away from the retro look with the new 2014 mustang. The retro styling of the 05-12, and I'm sure the 13, mustang was perfect timing and the baby boomers flocked to buy the car. I was 45 when the 05 model hit the streets and I know for a fact that I would never have considered buying a mustang if not for the retro look. Since then I have bought 3 of them!
We older "kids" got our wish and I'm thankful for Ford doing the whole retro thing. But it's time for Ford to go after the new generation of mustang buyers and I think you'll see a more futuristic look to the car.
Well saying most 18-23 dont even know what a bullitt is is kind of a "whack" statement IMO. But yea i agree with the more futuristic style. I know theyre not gonna deviate from the current form drastically. Just modernize it but keep previous model years design cues. Itll change yes but only over time will we see a drastic change in shape. Just speakin my mind
Whammer, a good amount of people including myself grew up in the garage around dads and grandpas in my case (my grandpa) who took us under there wing and showed us all about the cars of the 50's 60's and 70's... Alot of kids grew up to know just classic cars, muscle cars, IE: Studabakers, Bel-airs, C1 corvettes, Camaros, Chevelles, coronets, roadrunners etc etc.. i dont know your background but ive know about alot of younger generation individuals (maybe because the car scene i locate myself around) who grew up around there grandfather and fathers garage and if done right classics stuck in their heart (like mine) and im sure when they get older, there going to roll put that old 1964 1/2 mustang covertible with a little 289 and 4 on floor and show their kids, grandkids, nephews, etc about the history of such vehicle...and then that kid will take his kid and pull out a 1965 chevy II and do the same... because the thing about classics...is one thing... u either hate them or you love them... You either look at one and say "YUCK" or look at one and say "whoa..." and if you say "whoa" your more than likley going to do some research by grabbing a book, reading a magazine, or surfing the web and there in a small side picture there will be steve mcqueens face... and under it will be a Highland Green 1968 390 GT and a small paragraph....

I'm not sure why you guys can't understand you are the exceptions. Your average kid is watching the Fast and the Furious and loves the "ricer" type of car.
Anyway, believe what you want. I say there will NEVER be another Bullitt model from Ford. IF Ford does make one, you can create a post and make me eat my words.
Simply put, 18-32 is not Ford's Target buyer for the Bullitt. In 2001, it was the 33-45 year old's who grew up with the movie, are established in thier professional and family lives, and have enough money to buy a Brand new Mustang.
most 18-32 year old's don't fit every feature of that checklist. Some do, but the truth is that Ford's target buyer is a pretty small target, and growing even smaller and years go by to warrant the investment on the SE in the future. I'm not ruling it out, but the pro/con list isn't screaming "Build another one!!"
Heck, I'm 25 and don't fit any of those statements. I love Bullitt Mustangs, but I don't expect Ford to build a new one just so I can look at pictures of it on the Internet.

Well there has been talk of remaking the Movie. If it was done right and a decent success at the Box Office, Ford would have a reason to bring a new Bullit out.
Hard to redo that movie though

I disagree pretty intensely that they will NEVER make another Bullitt. Not because it's such a great car (which it is), and I apologize for my cynicism, but because the corporate world goes with what is safe. No imagination. Ford isn't exempted from this rule in any way. They have the "heritage" of the car, and they have certain special models they've put out over the past years. I think they'll stick to em in whatever combination they think will sell well. Also remember that special editions have the advantage of being made in small numbers, so the likelihood of someone being aware of past mustangs in this category is much higher I would expect.
Personally, I wish they'd come up with a new and different Mustang special edition in the future, but I'm not holding my breath about it. And yes, I know technically you've got new things like the woman warriors edition, or the DuB and whatnot, but they aren't truly mass-market performers that will be sought after.
As an aside, I'm not a baby-boomer either, but I'd give my left *%& to own a 69-70 Boss or Mach 1, you don't have to be old to appreciate cool cars from any era. I think the difference Whammer might be hitting on generationally is that most of the general Q public doesn't have a combination of time, money, facilities or inclination to restore an older car, so they go with newer ones that have new parts available. Doesn't mean they aren't aware of older stuff, or that they don't like it. I don't think they are the exceptions either. S197's brought me back to American cars again from Japanese cars, not because I'm old enough to have memories of a 60's mustang, but because I thought the new car was cool as hell.

So if they do remake the movie I think they'll use completely different cars.
