Future bullitt?
Does anyone have any gouge on the possibility of ford making a bullitt model for 2012 or 2013? I saw a video where a guy asked a ford guy about the "next bullitt" and he didn't say there wasn't going to be one. Just curious. Thanks.

It's been discussed over at IMBOC. I don't think we will see another Bullitt until they do a Boss.........someone said 2018 would be the 50th anniv. of the movie (I think).................might be a good time to do one. Just speculation, since the 2008 model was the 40th anniv. of the movie.........who knows.

The '08 - '09 Bullitt is as close as the original as it'll get unless one is done within the next couple of years before a new design. A 2018 Bullitt would be just as distant to the '68 as the '01 was.

The current '10-'11 design is already too far away from the '05-'09 ideal retro. The Camry inspired tail panel of the '10-'11 has absolutely no historical inspiration outside of Tokyo.

As I mentioned before the '08 - '09 Bullitt design is likely to be the closest it will ever get to the '68 but, a Bullitt with a 5.0 and perhaps a suspension upgrade such as the one offered on the Roush Stage 2 would be one Bullitt to reckon with.
I would welcome a Bullitt perhaps as a 2013 MY and would definately get one if conceived.

Since the 08 was the 40th anni for the movie, 13 would seem possible for the 45th if they were to release another one. Maybe an update to the movie too?

I think that Ford will make another Bullitt if they feel they can make money on it; the logical date would be the 50th anniversary in 2018, and the model would have to be an exact replica of the car in the film; everything else has been done. Just my opinion.

I don't see it happening. The 05-09 body style really suited the Bullitt. The 10-11 style is much more favorable to the Mach 1. Ford is now doing the Boss and I would think if they were to do another return to yesteryear it would be for a Mach 1. Ford did their tribute, and very well, to Bullitt with the 08-09.

Never say never. Ford has used special editions very effectively at times when Mustang sales level off.
