eBay 2008 Bullitt pricing

As some of us have been watching pricing on these - it seems that most if not all of the "bids" on them have been following a trend; one that strikes me as a bunch of BS...

What I mean is that the bidders' names/identifing names all take the same format. ie. X***X

This leads me to believe that there is "price fixing" going on here. The dealer(s) may start the process at say $27K or $30K, notice that no one is bidding on their SE (that they thought that would sell way above like the GT500s or SGTs) and so artificially bid it up internally just so they don't lose their shirts on the auction.

Why not just set a reserve? I don't use eBay, so just wondering...

The bidder's name is masked by eBay policy to protect them from scams, etc.

I doubt there is. Dealers would be wasting their time since they know what the price range is for the car, many are oblivious to what the car's upgrades are and what is all about but that's beside the point. Dealers also know most interested buyers are informed and know what price range the car commands.

Dealers often do, wasting time and sales opportunities then find themselves reposting the ads. The dealers are aware they are at a disadvantage since the Bullitt's exterior is a bland, conservative, and not flashy, as it should be and is great for its fans but not for those who are not familiar with its theme.

ah so that's how it all works...so much for my conspiracy theory...
Yeah but I think some dealers are trying to take advantage of the enthusiasts with their ADMs....

If you have an ebay account you can see the completed auctions for the search term "2008 Bullitt".

There haven't been very many selling above MSRP.... people aren't biting on the marked up ones. And correct me if I'm wrong, doesn't ebay charge sellers for listings even if the item doesn't sell the first time?

This is true, where the * are only though.
You'll notce the same IDs bidding on many of the cars. Of course eBay has always had people who love to bid in auctions with a reserve. It's as if they want to bid, but don't ever want to meet the reserve. Like some kind of game.

yeah why didn't Ford build the Bullitt with more 'Flash' to meet it's 'theme' ?

It's Ok dealers can add pin stripes, hood scoops and spoilers. Of course paint the calipers red.
